Facebook’s Internal Acceptable-Content Guidelines Leaked

Gawker obtained a copy of Facebook’s incredibly specific (“Deep flesh wounds and crushed heads are OK as long as no insides are showing”; no “comparison” photos likening people to animals, no female “nipple bulges”) internal rules for policing user content:

Amine Derkaoui, a 21-year-old Moroccan man, spent a few weeks training to screen illicit Facebook content through an outsourcing firm, for which he was paid a measly $1 an hour. He’s still fuming over it: “It’s humiliating. They are just exploiting the third world.” Well, now we know Facebook’s exact standards. Derkaoui provided us with a copy of the astonishingly specific guidelines Facebook dictates to content moderators.

    f*cebook should f*ck themselves.

outsourcing to morocco for techwork for 1$/hr, they should be ashamed.

    • Andrew

       Their pay should be escalated.

    • Calypso_1

That is a travesty, they could have got $0.65/hr in Pakistan!

        :P

So that is the way that Zuckerberg made his fortune! He have much in common with Bill Gates and Steve Jobs afterall!

You can read the whole document here: http://www.scribd.com/gawker/d/81877124-Abuse-Standards-6-2-Operation-Manual

According to the manual “I have a big penis and I love girls touching it” is apparently okay btw… ;)

I just breathed a huge sigh of relief!

(And when I say “huge,” I really mean “three inches.”)

I see shit like this on Facebook all the time. I don’t get it.

From the required to escalate section:

    “International Compliance/IP Blocks:

Photos AND/OR text making fun of/attacking/depicting negatively/criticizing, Ataturk.
Burning the Turkish flag [other flags are ok to be shown burning]
Maps of Kurdistan [as of now, only maps are escalated; other references are merely confirmed]
    Holocaust denial”

Zuckerberg must have had a bad day Turkish ‘wrestling’ with Erdoğan.

I have to wonder if the Turkish map info purge is in anyway related to the US military bases in same…since they are key to our strike plans against Iran…which seems dangerously close to happening at any time now. If thats the case, then FB has decided that the content (which is available on any map or globe in the world) is not safe for the internet or has been ‘asked’ by the state department to remove it…which is idiotic given that this is comparatively well known easily found info no matter where you come from and even without the internet.

The second possibility is recurring disputes breaking out between online factions of Turks and Kurds…since border disputes have been more or less constant and the US is perpetually refusing to offend either side with an absolute public stance. FB may be trying to prevent flame wars involving maps displayed by each sides ‘patriots’ with border lines displayed that suit that particular set of beliefs. Rather than pick a side…they just ban Turkish/Kurdish map/issues altogether.

In any case…theres plenty of stuff on the list I agree with removing. Where I draw the line is political speech/images that may be offensive. If they aren’t shocking…they aren’t working. Which means that some offensiveness is unavoidable without wiping out and stifling nearly all debate. (And then theres the anti-FB memes that have vanished within hrs of appearing on FB…chewing them out for privacy violations or ridiculous random changes in service. These vanish far faster than hate speech or nudity or spam…which tells you that the one topic that gets FB cracking on removals…is any criticism of FB.)

It sounds like a moslem whining that they cannot/will not censor criticism of islam.

So I can post pictures of the AMERICAN flag being burned, free speech and all of that, but not the TURKISH one…?

IS THIS WHAT FECEBOOK IS DOING TO US WHO TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT THE “JEWS” WHO ARE SODOMIZING AMERICA?  I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH OVERHEATING UNTIL I BEGAN POSTING ON FECEBOOK:
YES viruses CAN cause damage to your hardware. Granted, there have hardly been any seen that can. Writing the code is EXTREMELY complex and for any hacker to even WANT to do so is crazy and cost them hundreds of dollars in experimental fees (or they better have one hellof a warranty on there machine). I know several black hats and have done a touch of hacking/programming myself to say the least. Granted most of my endeavors are for knowledge purposes and to test the boundaries of what coding is possible. But to write the code to permanently damage a computer (in explanation) is simple.
What the “theoretical” virus must do:Step 1: Over-clock the CPU from BIOSStep 2: Disable fansStep 3: Disable all protection in the BIOS.
Its that simple folks. What will result is your CPU overheating and causing many of the other wiring/circuitry to melt. A computer is relatively stupid, it runs with ON/OFF switches (1′s and 0′s) and if you turn on the switch that is supposed to be off its broke. The code that protects your computer from over-heating (simplified of course) basically reads “If CPU temp > 30 then shutdown PC” thats the basis for your CPU overheating protection in the BIOS. If you wish to fry a computer thats how you would go about it.
I’VE ONLY HAD MY COMPUTER ON FOR 10 MINUTES, AND THE FAN IS ALREADY RUNNING A MILE A MINUTE.  LET’S LOOK INTO FILING COMPLAINTS AGAINST FECEBOOK.  “JEWS” CANNOT DO WHAT THEY WANT.
