Dutch Catholic Church Castrated Children In The 1950s

Henk-Heithuis-_2171956bJust fifty years ago, the Catholic Church in Holland used castration of boys and young men “as a treatment for homosexuality and also as a punishment for those who accused clergy of sexual abuse.” Horrifying events, long covered up, via the Telegraph:

The NRC Handelsblad newspaper identified Henk Heithuis who was castrated in 1956, while a minor, after reporting priests to the police for abusing him in a Catholic boarding home.

Joep Dohmen, the investigative journalist who uncovered the Heithuis case, also found evidence of at least nine other castrations. “These cases are anonymous and can no longer be traced,” he said. “There will be many more. But the question is whether those boys, now old men, will want to tell their story.”

Mr Heithuis died in a car crash in 1958, two years after being castrated at the age of 20, while under the age of majority, which was then 21. In 1956 he had accused Catholic clergy of sexually abusing him in his Church run care home …

  1. In my mind, this sort of abuse is ample justification for the complete destruction of this organization.

If we have to grind the last brick of every cathedral to dust in order to communicate to these people that hurting children isn’t ok, then we need to go ahead and do that.

  2. It’s highly debatable if the “Catholic Church” as a whole used this shocking method, it seems to be clear, some of its followers did so. This, however is not the same…

let’s be clear, this is only one on the 10 mile long list of sexually violent acts the catholic church has perpatrated on it’s lay followers, this is not the first time this specific charge has been listed, nor will it be the last.

Ah, an apologist. Count yourself among the “monsterous fools” mentioned above.

      • Ah well, if pointing out the difference between the “Catholic Church” as a whole and some of its most despicable minions, makes me an apologist and a “monsterous fool” so be it. Stating the “Catholic Church” did something, while this is unproven, doesn’t make the acts committed in its name any more palatable.

        • And by “while this unproven” I mean, that it is as of yet unproven that these practices were officially sanctioned by the “Catholic Church”

individual parish’s and diocese have a degree of autonomy, so anything sanctioned by a catholic hospital, was sanctioned by a clergyman which in turn means: by proxy it was sanctioned by the catholic church. in the same way sexual and emotional abuse inflicted on aboriginal children from 1860-1992 in canada at parochial (catholic and methodist run) residential schools was sanctioned by the church. And in fact, several denominations as well the gov’t offically apologised for their part in the creation of the rez school system. you see, sexual violence was so prevelant within the church that although it was not promoted it IS (still) tolerated. that is perhaps worse than an official declaration of intent.
the catholic church is the sum of it’s parts. the vatican is proven corrupt, int’l diocese are proven corrupt, and hundreds of american diocese have proven corrupt. that is, the catholic church-corrupt.

          • While I am aware of the wrongdoings of many within the “Catholic Church”, this specific horror hasn’t been linked to the “top” of Dutch Catholicism as of yet. It’s early days, probably uncovering these stories further will uncover more direct proof of sanctioning this from above. If it does, I will have to agree, until it does: I only pointed out the difference between “Catholic Church” and the people acting as part of it. This has resulted in me being called an apologist and part of the “monsterous fools”. Ah, doesn’t matter, there is a whole lot of sick stuff linked to the “Catholic Church”, I can see that and I don’t deny it, claiming the Dutch “Catholic Church” as an entity did this, however, from the available evidence, might just as well be considered naive.

If the church has “despicable minions” as you say, what does that say about it’s leaders (Popes, Bishops, priests etc.)?

Who do you think “despicable minions” follow anyway?

sexual violence is about domination and control. when a quasi poltical-religious organisation such as the Catholic church gains the ability to codify and enact laws, they function very similiar to how a state does. meaning they are solely focused on self-preservation and acquisition. to prevent dissent, they oppress and de-humanise their ‘citizens.’ using sexual violence, which is considered deeply shameful (which again is purposeful, make the act deeply de-humanising so the victim bears the burden and cannot reveal due to religious/societal views on sexuality), is a very insidious but highly effective way to keep a population subdued. many x’tian denominations in europe and north america have this exact sort of history (residential schools, sterilisation of psychiatric patients). it is a direcattack on our body sovereignty and our personal autonomy. which is why the right’s attack on reproductive health and sexual minorities is so dire. it parallels this same kind of subjugation using sexual violence.

i have a very neutral view of the church, seeing it as corrupted and deeply flawed, but the people within it as seekers of some kind. whenever i read these kind of articles, it does make me hate the entire monolithic beast.

    •  Beast is antoher good word for it.  If only Saul  (later st. Paul) had not had a dream, this monster – our own islam, might not have existed.

Hater of Jews, laid the foudnation for the holocaust and WWII. Hitler btw was catholic.

1000 year dark ages of zero social and economic progress.  A life described as cold, short and brutish.

Tens of millions of Muslims murdered during the xtian (actually catholic )  crusades.  Societies have long memories –  9-11 began in Rome and all most all catholic Europe 1000 year ago

Hate between Catholics and xtian non catholics, eg No. Ireland. I remember a story from 20 years ago – a xtian was going to marry a catholic in No. Ireland – they were firebombed.

Today gays are the latest victims, the church calling gays intrisically disordered, intriniscally evil, etc.  Making their contribution to the repeating 9-11 of 3000 or so gay kids driven to suicide every year.

Another black mark in an endless history of black marks. If a person could actually look at the Catholic Church objectively and without the fear of hellish retribution in the afterlife for not believing the horror stories the church has drilled into the christian psyche, no sane person would follow them. Whether you believe in God or not, The Catholic Church is about as EVIL as it gets….

Monsters, Fools and Monsterous Fools make up the cabal known as the Catholic Church…..

    •  as it ws the cabal of church and the kings who ruled Europe for a thousand years. Immortalized in the words of a french philosopher , Dennis  Dierdot (?sp)

Mankind will be free when the last king is strangled with the guts of the last priest.  We’ve done a good job re the kings.  Time to finish the job re the priests and even  more so hierarchy.

  5. There are genuine sexual perverts in the world. …and yes, in this instance, I am talking about the fuckers holding the knife.

I could write an ANTHOLOGY on all the terrible things I would do to every single person involved who allowed these atrocities to happen if I was given the opportunity.

    • I’ve read a practice some Native American tribes had when they found a child molester in their midst.

They coat the offender in tree sap, nail his genitals to a log, and give him a dull knife. Then, they would set the log on fire.

        that is a great idea.

        • Scourge and purge.

To molest a child sexually is possibly the most evil act there is. It is one of few crimes I support a capital punishment for, and the only one I advocate death by torture as a punishment.

pay evil unto evil. The torture is purely punitive.

      •  I can hear the pope praying as his nuts cook – where are my boys……..
