Norway’s Home-Grown Terrorist Claims Self-Defence

BreivikI think Anders may need better legal counsel as I can’t imagine any judge or jury on Earth buying self-defence as justification for his mass of murders. Via the Guardian:

In an average year, 30 murders are committed in Norway. In three hours one afternoon in July last year, Anders Behring Breivik more than doubled that figure. Yet when he appeared at the first day of his trial on Monday, the 33-year-old insisted he was not guilty of acts of terrorism resulting in the deaths of 77 people.

“I acknowledge the acts,” Breivik told Oslo central court when asked to enter a plea. “But I do not plead guilty and I claim that I was doing it in self defence.”

His lawyer had already warned that this would be how Breivik would justify planting an enormous bomb outside the government quarters in Oslo, killing eight people, before heading to the island of Utøya to gun down 69 more attending a summer camp of the ruling Labour party.

Earlier, he announced that he did not recognise the Norwegian court – because, he said, it receives its mandate “from political parties who support multiculturalism” …

I hope he dies a slow horrible death.

    • I can’t wait to see his face when he tries to get into Heaven.

He’ll be shocked to find a sign on the Pearly Gates have been “Closed Due To Lack of Actual Christians.”

  2. Maybe it was a Stand Your Ground sortof situation.

  3. This is the sort of “self defense” delusion that Gavin Debecker talks about in “The Gift of Fear”.  It’s very similar to the sort of “self defense” that abusive spouses feel they must take when they kill a battered spouse who attempts to escape from their abuse or when stalkers kill their stalking target.  Part of their very inherent identity is their violence and whatever delusion they have that makes them “close” to their victims.

It doesn’t make sense to those of us who would not abuse or kill in this manner, but it does make a whole lot of chilling sense in the context of those parameters.

his manifesto was a mix of left wing, right wing, and science fiction, I am betting he will try to write a Mein Kampf style train wreck masterpiece while in prison

I read it…and I kept wondering if he had a handler.  I’m disinclined to think, as the Norwegians have declared, that his “secret order” is solely the byproduct of a diseased mind.  It wouldn’t be the first time that Europeans have been swayed by an Invisible Hierarchy.

I’m sure there were like minded people he communicated with but that doesn’t mean there was an organization

        •  As with all psychopaths his psych interviews are utterly pointless. Just mixing of truth and lies which the psychopaths believes will be to their advantage.
The most telling thing the utter lack of remorse about killing minors.

What experience do you have with psych interviews?

I find it far more telling that society is programmed to focus on such individuals as remorseless psychopaths, their victims becoming ritual recipients of weeping and gnashing of teeth, whilst the Corporate-State Grand Guignol carries out carnage with impunity and pageant fostered by the commiserative burden of willful ignorance.

        • I think he’s gay. Listen to his soft voice. He has a facination for uniforms and ha started crying when he looked at pictures of strong knights. He probarbly won’t accept this to himself. I guess that’s one ot the things what have made him so angry and dangerous.

  4. Breivik is a Malkavian, just a finger of a greater hand.
