  1. Ummmm … he can be arrested for criticizing the regime! Haven’t you people read the National Defense Authorization Act?

    • Well, TECHNICALLY, the 1st amendment should trump the NDAA.  Not claiming that’s what would actually happen.

One of the things we need to do is add some damn teeth to the Bill of Rights.  Think about it.  The government is banned from certain actions.  But, what happens if they take them anyway? After several years, those actions MAY be declared illegal by a court heavily influenced by the people who took the unconstitutional actions.  Those challenging the law MAY receive some compensation.  But, what of the lawmakers who violated the Constitution?  Do they have to personally pay that compensation?  Nope, that’ll come from other people, who’s rights were also violated.  Will they go to jail.  Nope.  Nothing will happen to them.

If I’d believed half the crap my HS teachers (one insisted on being called ‘instructor’) and counselors said, I’d be very misdirected today.
OTOH, I still never begin a sentence with the word ‘and’. Whatev.

  3. The students are smarter than their teacher, as I’ve seen many times before.

    Education system FAIL.

  4. the teach sounds like shes black herself, is it possible she is sticking up for obama for the reason that he is part black?

YES, she’s a fucking racist. And an ignorant one at that.

      • Monkey See Monkey Do | May 24, 2012 at 2:32 pm |

So are we going to start showing videos on disinfo every time some NOBODY is filmed being racist. This was a fucking pointless video with ill intentions. You wanna justify it Camron? By the way ‘Mds’. Yes she was. Big fucking deal, use your mind to deduct more important issues at hand (If thats possible)

I’m a little disappointed at the calibre of our high school teachers that they keep plugging away with these relatively primitive methods of mind control.  I know the old saying, “Those that can’t do, teach”, but honestly you’d figure they’d begin to pick up a few tricks as they advance along the learning curve themselves.

They should really be identifying the nascent little bullies in the class and encouraging them to physically harrass anyone critical of O’Barmy.  Maybe grade inflation, exempting them from certain attendance or exam requirements or giving them softball “extra credit” assignments would be enough to co-opt them to channel their native hostility to service of the state.

It’s really kind of embarrassing that teachers haven’t yet picked up on the fact that nobody, not anybody, gives a flying f*ck about the opinions of a $20k/year drudge who wasn’t sharp enough to make it in the corporate world.

      I’ll take the bait here.

Some people can cut it just fine in the private and public sector, but they prefer the public sector because (misguided and outdated an idea as it may be), they believe in the greater welfare of society and the human race through moderately compensated public service; I know, I know, if you really want to help people you should do it for free, but a man has to eat and that rent has gotta be paid.  Is it better to be some Wall St. goon or some Silicon Valley hipster with no interest in anything but their own personal welfare or to be an educator?

Yes, the public schools in this country are in a sorry state right now, and yes there are shitty teachers out there; there are also shitty CEOs, shitty cops, shitty restauranteurs (do you know how long the average small business eatery lasts in the U.S.?), shitty independent contractors, shitty plumbers, etc. This woman is obviously an Obamaton partisan hack, but there are plenty of hack conservative teachers out there, particularly when it comes to subjects like history (“America is the greatest country ever. EVER. End of story”) and science (“Jesus loves you, which is why he wants you to ignore the mountain of empirical evidence supporting Darwinian natural selection”).  Sadly, this teacher cannot understand the double standard she’s upholding by allowing criticism of Romney and not Obama; also, like many liberals who voted for Obama and don’t want to admit the fact that he’s just another slick politician who serves the interests of the American oligarchy, she’s suffering from some severe cognitive dissonance.

By all means, continue to diss teachers, but eventually this country is going to get exactly what it wants, and that is an educational system funded and controlled entirely by big business and libertarian ideologues. Good luck with that.

Adam, I totally agree with you, 100%.  You’ll get no argument from me.

I just stated, rather bluntly, the plain facts of the rhetorical environment we’re living in and simultaneously commented on the flaming stupidity of the individual teachers who engage in that kind of behavior.  When you’re dealing with a sphere as fundamentally subjective as polemics, perception is reality.

Not that it should be.  But there you have it.

Point well-taken; the hallmark of a good teacher is giving students the tools to think critically and independently, and showing them how to self-examine and question assumptions. Obviously, this lady was not doing that. There is also the fact that a student should never be able to tell what the politics of their teachers are in the first place, much less have it shoved down their throats; it’s extremely hard to truly be objective, but that is a teacher’s job, especially in a social studies class. Teaching FAIL.

Who cares??!! One stupid teacher and all of a sudden every teacher and the entire education system she is a part of is a “FAIL”? Where did you go to school? You’ve obviously turned out ok. These students will too.
What irks me is that this is actually a headline. You CANNOT be arrested for criticizing Obama (not yet anyway…American facsism, while blossoming, isn’t thriving. Nowhere in the NDAA does it state that public criticism is a cause for arrest).
Like it or not however, this woman has a right to voice her stupid opinion. We should all take solace in the fact that these kids, while not vocal about it, are probably not in agreement with her. Afterall, if every student in the history of education believed everything their teacher was spouting, our world would be a whole lot different, and probably not in a good way.

So relax people, let it go. Go play with your kids, pet your dog, get some sunshine and smile a little. Don’t let silly headlines (designed to rile you up and nuture angst) get in the way of your day.

    • A certain US marine would disagree with that statement, he was arrested from criticising Obama and kicked out of the Marines, when in reality he should only have been forced to apologise.
Should the teacher be suspended, pretty much, for losing control of a class, being readily distracted and losing focus on what she should be teaching.
The students were treating here like a fool, had her rabbiting on nonsense to justify her silly stance, I mean really “as a social studies teacher she can not allow any one to disrespect a President in her class room”, wow had she wandered way off topic.
The students like her as a teacher and are sorry she got suspended, hardly surprising they obviously have great fun treating her like the class dunce.

    • The NDAA actually says that anyone (US citizens included) can be arrested if they are labelled a “terrorist” and held indefinitely without trial. This student COULD be arrested and labelled a terrorist easily. Because the government does what it wants. It’s no longer accountable to anyone.  What worries me is that this is already happening……

  7. What the hell is wrong with this country and the people in it? They just get more stupid and fat by the day. Am I the only one who feels like this country is going collectively insane? The average person is the product of watching TV and being manipulated on every level, yet they are too blind to see it, or better yet they refuse to see reality because it’s not convenient and may cut into their reality show watching time. Can’t miss Dancing with the Morons!

    •  You are absolutely right on, I couldn’t agree with you more, We have two presidential parties, both are puppets and the mainstream are there audience, so we have a ringside show, always fun to watch them criticize each other, but at the same time it is sickening too, because I am waiting for a someone who will stand up to both parties and stand up for what a true Democracy is really meant to be “for the people” and written by the people, they made up everything else for their own greedy interest, it is nauseating to no end.

      • I also agree with yourself and Dirk. What needs to happen is a revolution. Nothing will change while people are just smart enough to work and operate their computers and television but too dumb to get up and do something about it.
The occupy protests were nearly there but people again were too self centered to do anything. THIS IS NOT LIVING, THIS IS CONTROLLED EXISTENCE!

Fuck that ignorant bitch! She worships him like a fucking moron.

  9. DeepCough | May 23, 2012 at 3:59 pm |

High School teachers can be real fucking dumb. I spent most of high school not standing for the pledge of allegiance (I attended during the first term of the Bush administration), and it pissed my homeroom teacher off royally, especially since she legally couldn’t do anything about it.

  10. chinagreenelvis | May 23, 2012 at 5:22 pm |

“There were people who were arrested for saying bad things about Bush.”

  11. This woman should be fired, she’s a disguting loyalist with no brain.
