    Witty.

  • PertAndPopular

This shit is genius. So true…”intelligent” women with shitty men -sigh-. I feel exactly like the guy in this video.

    • Brother

      its a club.

  • Meaningless Self

Just goes to show you: its just female nature- even in intelligent ones- to desire those who treat them like shit. Fucking cosmic irony!!

    • Jin The Ninja

that very ridiculous characterisation would only apply to the writer IF the writer was a woman. and even if she is a SHE, then it only applies to her.

      • Brother

yes yes, very hot till the end there which made the whole dialog that came before insincere. Its very hard to be interested in such high minded abstract topics and be ok within a shallow, asymmetrical, codependent relationship masquerading as a real romance. She reminds me of the stereotype of a femme fatale, who pretends to be classy but is false and malevolent in reality.

      • TennesseeCyberian

A woman’s value is dictated by her appearance and ethnicity?  What are you, sexist and racist?

        Shame on you.

        • Redacted

I’m the only sexist around here. Get back in the kitchen.

          • TennesseeCyberian

Usually sexists have sex before they develop their bias. I suppose you are an early bloomer?

          • Lego

so much intellectual arrogance. Use all that mental power to go do something productive, this site if for entertainment.

“What I meant to say was…”

        • Calypso_1

…this is going to be amusing.

        • Jin The Ninja

actually if you READ my comment, what i said was very pro-womyn, as it deconstructed the stereotype portrayed in the clip and in the above comment.
it also spoke to the very real tension between women and abusive partners.

since i’m eurasian, i simply felt the need to acknowledge a fellow eurasian, and in that also acknowledge that she is very beautiful. neither of those things defines her “value.” but multi racialty does define identity.

and i’m queer. so my appraisal of female physicality is based on an altogether very different quantum than a sexist hetero cis-male.

          • TennesseeCyberian

So not only do you critique women on their looks and racial make-up, you don’t even spell “women” correctly?

That’s practically abusive in and of itself.

          • Jin The Ninja

lol. critique implies denigration. point to where i did that? ‘womyn’ is an all encompassing term drawn from feminism that refers to genderqueer womyn, trans womyn, lesbian, bi sexual, hetero sexual cis womyn.

and because i am also Eurasian, as i noted, it is not an abuse of racial privilege to note others of the same identity.

          • TennesseeCyberian

Critique only implies denigration if the critique is unflattering or the subject is too sensitive to communicate under unprotected conditions. It’s a cool word, you should Google it some time.

“Womyn” is a very unpopular permutation of the English language, much like the more-popular terms “cum,” “nigga,” or “coz,” as in “coz ur the racist.” I can’t imagine why “womyn” hasn’t caught on yet.

“do you know anything about multi-raciality? feminism? hapa identity? eurasians as historical and contemporary populations? identity politics? queer politics? gender politics?”

Only that people who speak from those platforms generally do so with condescension and snide self-assurance. And that they tend to annoy guests at the dinner table. Know many people like that?

I suppose your “queer and eurasian” privilege is negligible unless it is the subject of a diversity training seminar, a doctoral candidacy, or a top spot on MSNBC. Or if one ignores “queer Eurasian” over-representation in interior design and the sciences (respectively.)

Just FYI: Part of my privilege is the use of two “Shift” buttons to either side of my keyboard. They are used to capitalize certain words, such as those which start sentences, or proper words like “Eurasian.”

          • Jin The Ninja

i can hear the vacant struggle of a hick drowning in his own word vomit.

          • Camron Wiltshire

It’s hillarious to observe your arrogance in denouncing others for aspectsof your own personality flaws.

          • TennesseeCyberian

You’ll notice that Jin has done a 1984 on his/her own comment to hide his/her admission of “urban privilege.”

This “urban privilege,” with better access to education, social services, and non-familial mates, manifests itself as insults towards the “inbreds” and “rednecks” who occupy the rural areas of America.

By deleting his/her original hypocritical statement, Jin also shows two-faced cowardice, known among the masses as a “pussy.”

          • Jin The Ninja

yes. troll master, yes. you are absolutely correct that i positioned my urban privilege above the rural. my mistake. so when you position yourself above ‘asian’ people above women, what does that make you?

          • TennesseeCyberian

To go back and edit out an insult to my state is pretty cowardly, don’t you think?

It was funnier the way you phrased it before, because it assumes that everyone in Tennessee is idiotic, which is extremely prejudiced.

Or “funny” as those of us with a sense of humor call it.

          • Jin The Ninja

what i think is funny is you, trolling my comment. stay redneck.

          • Jin The Ninja

And as a side note, who is being racist here? the fact that eurasians (myself included) make up a visible identity seems to make you upset. i can’t exert power +predjudice+ privilege over MY OWN racial group.

          • TennesseeCyberian

No, my friend, you’ve got me all wrong. I think the Asian chick in that video was super-hot, too.

          • Jin The Ninja

“chick”? “Asian” (what does “Asian” even mean?) ?

          • TennesseeCyberian

            Damn, I’m sorry.

See, a subset of guys in American society like to call certain female peers “chicks,” you know, like baby chickens, because they are soft and fluffy and grow up to lay eggs.

“Asian” is sort of like “Eurasian” but without the “Euro,” but can also be used as a blanket term for anyone of Asian descent by people who think “Eurasian” has too many syllables and sounds sort of pretentious.

Have you ever considered taking a diversity training course on popular vernacular? It will make you much more sensitive to subtle cultural nuances.

          • Liam_McGonagle

Yeah, Comrade “Go Liam Go” also seems unaware of the polemical implications of the very conscious use of the term “womyn”.

“Go dtreise Dia do lamha” and all that, but I think it’d be a waste of someone’s time to spend it on that character.  It’d only be fair to handicap him for his social isolation amonst a herd of vodka-swilling plebs out in some God-forsaken rural Oblast, but I think he’s already achieved the limits of what can be expected of him.

No offense, i like you Jin, and i never thought i’d be defending a troll, but he is doing a good job of revealing a different kind of bigotry than you usually associate with the word.

You’re projecting a lot of what “Meaningless Self” said onto “TennesseeCyberian”, who has been doing nothing but trolling you specifically, and you are assuming a lot about him simply due to his tag containing “Tennessee” in it.

But really this is a lesson in “Never feed the troll” cus you’re always going to get bit.

Also you almost seem to use cis-male(actually terminology i’ve never heard of before, but its understandable enough) in a completely derogatory fashion, assuming that it implies a hatred for alternative cisgenders. Honestly i think this is offensive. Its much the same kind of bigotry you seem to have against people from the south as well; this follows the same logic that you cannot be bigoted against, whites, males, or rich people.

          • Andrew

Chaorder Gradient “then there’s nothing wrong with being bigoted against children”.

          • TennesseeCyberian

          • Jin The Ninja

i appreciate what you say, and i do not take any offense.
i have to disagree however, because TC is the one who became ‘offended’ shall we say by my use of the word ‘eurasian’ and ‘womyn’ when those were meant in a totally inclusive way. in terms of identity politics, we have to identify privilege where it exists in order to deconstruct it. for instance i full take responsibilty for my denigration of rural people in this context, but conversely saying that mixed people are ‘Asian’ and women ‘chicks’ in the same way based upon a certain white male privilege that i am not willing to ignore. by using ‘cis’ iam positing the difference between me, who is queer and not in the same position of privilege as someone who is sexually ‘normative.’ i agree that i should have never fed the troll. I am more than willing to acknowledge i have a certain idea of what southern people are, which is not ecumenical nor inclusive. and for anyone who was affected by that i apologise; however TC and i have had this same racialised back and forth before, so of course it led me to ascribe their thinking to entire group- and again, not my intention, geography has nothing to do with ideology. completely my fault in that.

I suppose, but I think the expression lends itself more toward physical attributes…

“we have to identify privilege where it exists in order to deconstruct it.”

If you typed that on a nice computer in a comfortable home with a full belly and no one kicked in your door for doing so, I’d say it’s time to call in leftist deconstruction team.  I mean, what about all the starving kids in Africa?

“i full take responsibilty for my denigration of rural people in this context”

By editing out your comments?  Better grovel some more.

You’ve accused me of racism and other -isms at various times, but that is just an easy way to avoid rational arguments.  You just slap your opponent with an -ism or categorize them by their assumed “privilege,” and BAM!!, you somehow win.  No need for logic or supporting evidence.

            It’s a weak gambit.

So I had some fun pointing out your own -isms, which I happen to find charming, even if I tease you about them on the Internet.

“I am more than willing to acknowledge i have a certain idea of what southern people are, which is not ecumenical nor inclusive. and for anyone who was affected by that i apologise”

            Why apologize for being honest?

As the Devil once said in a homoerotic fantasy flick: “We are all animals, my dear.”

Quit being so uptight about it.

…and just when he hit the top commenter slot : (

          • http://hormeticminds.blogspot.com/ Chaorder Gradient

I didn’t mean to imply that you actually had prejudice against, whites, males, or rich people. I was just stating that bigotry against the south and these are each arrived at through the same logical means(but are nonetheless separate issues).

Everyone has a different state in each of the issues, but they were being used as examples, nothing more.

          • TennesseeCyberian

I think it’s pretty clear that Jin harbors prejudice about whites (you know, that whole “privilege” accusation).  And his “cis-hetero” term has a tinge of venom to it, even over the Internet.

Andrew has just come out and owned his prejudice toward the rich, wherever one draws that line.

I have no problem pointing out their prejudices, but to anyone who would utterly condemn them for prejudging a group of people based on past experiences or second-hand stories, to anyone who would say that their arguments are somehow instantly negated by their prejudice, I offer a firm, but fair:

So what if they’re prejudiced? Are their statements true?

          • http://hormeticminds.blogspot.com/ Chaorder Gradient

well I did at one point have to reluctantly admit to the existence of white privalege a while back, but its come to a point where such an extremely complex issue as “privilege” itself immediately lends itself to being discriminated against, no matter the context. I can’t say I am a master in this realm of information but i think we see eye to eye in this respect at least.

          • TennesseeCyberian

I would be dishonest to deny my white privilege, and my Western privilege in general, but it’s not all that leftists make it out to be–especially for working class whites in the South.  I’m too busy struggling to survive to apologize for it.

Those who point fingers and say, “white privilege” as though it is a character flaw tend to ignore their own privileges or downplay them in order to secure more privileges.

True story: I was talking to a black radical the other day when suddenly he hit me with, “The only honorable response to disparity is to disavow all privilege.”  The next day we were having barbecue at his house with the big screen TV on in the air-conditioned living room on comfortable sofas.

To condemn white privilege, or any privilege, is to cut down the taller trees in the forest for sake of those struggling in the shade.  Life is hard enough without identity politics.

          • Andrew

The concept of kyriarchy (however redundant the etymology) is very helpful in describing what you’re talking about.

          • Calypso_1

Maybe you’ll do a better job of it?

          • Monkey See Monkey Do

No thanx, I’m a monkey, and i’ll always be a monkey.

          • GoodDoktorBad

          • Camron Wiltshire

I agree entirely with Chaorder’s account.

Jin you’ve accused me of all of the above on numerous occasions, while simultaneously dislocating your shoulders with self congratulatory back slapping for your own ‘preeminent sympathies’ with exploited or marginalized people everywhere, but in reality you just come off like a brain washed hipster epousing pc rhetoric you absolutely do not embody, while you continuously expose your own massive superiority/inferiority complex as an anonymous troll. Put down whatever minority manifesto you are reading at the moment, climb the nearest hill, look out and re member you are not a special snowflake, you are no different than any of the other souls hung up on the cross of time, ie get over yourself and stop being such a whiny bitch about everything.

You Camron, are most certainly a special flake.  ; )

“You are not special. Your are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everything else.”

          • Calypso_1

I love decaying organic matter.  It contains immense beauty.

After the Cogito, that’s about the truest thing I know.

          • Camron Wiltshire

            Agreed.

        She has a fat ass.

    • Quagmire

This is a fundamental law of the universe. That’s why Quagmire’s test works so great in the real world. “How is your relationship with your father?”   If she says good, move to the next chick. If she says bad, bingo, your in.

  • DeepThoughts

Oh how hard it is to be a deep individual in such a shallow society, No diving you’ll smash your head on the bottom.

This video is hilarious, by the way.  I watched most of Joy Camp’s short clips afterward, and thought many of them were even funnier, particularly the PSAs.
