Beheaded George W. Bush on HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’

Via WFLA 540 AM:

In the DVD release for HBO’s Game of Thrones, Episode 10, showrunners Dave Benioff and D.B. Weiss admit to using the severed head of former president George W. Bush in the scene below. The show-runners statement follows:

“The last head on the left is George Bush. George Bush’s head appears in a couple of beheading scenes. It’s not a choice, it’s not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had lying around.” — Dave Benioff & D.B. Weiss

Love this show and I’m totally appalled that HBO pitched a fit about this, made the producers apologize and pledged to digitally scrub the image from future DVD releases. In a show that features graphic depictions if incest, child murder, rape, casual violence against women and beheading after beheading, apparently a split-second easter egg featuring a prop head that resembles a war criminal is “in bad taste”. Gimme a BREAK, HBO!

  2. Well that’s about the only interesting thing that show has offered thus yet.  Now that’s writing..

DOOOOD this show fucking rocks i dunno what your talking about… this makes me love this show even more

      • Blah blah blah
gratuitous  sex scene, blah blah blah, gratuitous violence scene…Indeed it’s the recipe for the masses…enjoy..

        • Best show since The Wire

        • I have enjoyed the books quite a bit, however the tv show is somehow a little disappointing.

Salman Rushdie agrees with your assessment though.

It’s because the show lacks the integrity and true edgy-ness of the books. Of course, HBO is utterly devoid of integrity or edgy-ness, hence this article.

I’ve been reading this series since it came out (1997 I think?) and quickly grew infatuated with it; the first season of the show was very well-done and very close to the book, but the second season…not so much.  Still entertaining, though.

However, the book series is just so much better: much more detail, much more honest about late-medieval life (I think that’s the integrity you’re talking about), and the characters are much deeper.  Who would’ve thought Jaime Lannister had a soul?

          • The TV show did get the casting right by picking Peter Dinklage.

He’s carrying the entire show right now.

The other actors are entirely capable of doing a better job, but somehow they’re just not being allowed to really “pop”.

Again, not sure why that is…

…And the main reason the producers cast Dinklage was because he was GRRM’s first pick for Tyrion.  And the best episode of the 2nd season was the Battle of the Blackwater, where Martin wrote the teleplay himself. To sum up: George R. R. Martin is the shit.

Yeh I’ve noticed they are the recipes for a popular show. I havent seen this one yet. It’s gotta be better than all those CSI, NCIS, CIA, cops to the rescue shows, they kill me with boredom.

Actually, it’s not writing. It’s special effects.

    They shouldn’t have apologized.
