Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake”: A Video About Monarch Mind Control

Here at disinformation we always enjoy a wacky critique of popular music videos and the motivation of the artists who made them, such as the Illuminati conspiracy featuring Eminem, Lady Gaga and Jay-Z. Now Vigilant Citizen ”explains” (we’re not sure if they’re serious…) how Katy Perry joins the cabal of overachieving recording artists with a video about Project Monarch mind control (a supposed offshoot of the CIA’s MKULTRA program):

Many articles on this site described how many items of popular culture conceal within their symbolism references to an unknown, horrendous practice: Monarch programming. This technique of mind control seeks to create fully “programmable” individuals and is used by the shadowy elite in fields such as the military, politics and the murky underworld (for detailed information on Monarch programming, read the article Origins and Techniques of Monarch Mind Control). Another area in which mind control (especially Monarch programming) is used is the entertainment business – not only because some celebrities are actual victims of mind control, but because entertainment is used to subtly normalize and glamorize this awful practice through symbolism.

Katy Perry’s video Wide Awake is yet another music video that alludes to the concept of Monarch programming through its storyline and its imagery. While this might not be obvious to most people, those who have some knowledge of the subject of mind control find it extremely blatant.

In many ways, the video resembles works that have been previously analyzed on this site, such as the movies Labyrinth and Sucker Punch and music videos like Paramore’s Brick by Boring Brick. All of these productions visually represent the inner-world of Monarch slaves through a specific set of symbols: mirrors, butterflies (especially Monarch butterflies), mazes and so forth. Not only do these objects aptly portray psychological concepts, they are actual “trigger images” used in mind control on Monarch slaves. Wide Awake fully utilizes this set of symbols, which gives the storyline a deeper, and more disturbing, meaning…

    I find that site both interesting and entertaining but there are as many presumptions and mistakes as there are conclusions. There is also a worrying evangelical zeal about some of the people who post comments.
    I would also like some explanation as to why the illuminati/’occult forces/bad guys continually flood the market with videos supposedly exposing their evil ways.

    Or could it be that the crass and hackneyed imagery has been used so often it is an easy fall back for some stoner sat at a storyboard?

      The theory is known among some of the more “imaginative” conspiracy theorists as “predictive programming”. By repeatedly exposing their evil ways to children when their minds are more impressionable (conditioning), the concepts of Illuminati practices are familiarized and will seem like “natural progressions”, thus (if not morally, then at least) emotionally and psychologically acceptable among the population at large. The goal is too lessen public resistance and commotion.

          The hero is always a lone man, and upon reaching a certain age one realizes that the lone man can do nothing. So powerless and hopelessness ensues followed by acceptance on drone-dom and henchman-ism.              Well, mythology is full of “lone saviors” and I don’t think co-intelpro was in operation thousands of years ago. The lone hero archetype just happens to fit extremely well into the conventions of storytelling. Stories require some kind of character progression to be compelling, and that progression is most easily and effectively expressed by focusing on a main character or small group of characters.

            There are actually many movies in which a group of heroes band together to fight the Evil Empire, not all of them focus on just one single hero.

        Anybody with any real understanding of the occult would know that the version of occultism that the VC and his elk perpetuate is paranoid fairytale which panders to the fears of right wing Christian goons, who regard all alternative, direct, non-hierarchical spiritual practices as demonic and evil in nature.  This is nothing more than a modern version of the satanic messages on heavy metal records hysterical panic of the 80s – the fact that the VC’s followers are predominantly fundamentalist cretins is no accident.

        And anybody who talks about the Illuminati as though they were anything other than a short-lived group of Enlightenment free-thinkers who sought to abolish Churches and Monarchies, and weren’t particularly successful at it, is a crank.

           Yeah this is something that more people really need to understand. So much conspiracy theory has its roots in fundamentalist Christian paranoia. A lot of ‘free thinking’ people have been drawn into the conspiricist worldview without realizing this.

            Very good, this is a great topic – the bizarre apocalyptic, Chick Tract/ John Birch Society fueled, Satanic baby-eating cult fearing, anti-NWOites are indeed the origin of much of this world view.  And they’ve been guided all along the way by parties highly accomplished in engineering human dread as a political force.

    Vigilant Citizen is obsessed with Project Monarch, yet its existence is pretty shaky as evidence for it rests on the witness account of one single person: Cathy O’ Brien.

    Still… V.C.’s analysis is a lot more entertaining than the bland pop videos themselves.

      There’s something doubly appealing about former Fundie chicks who have just thrown off the yoke of the religious morality of their childhood.

      The reality is that they generally have not, but that doesn’t keep them from having something to prove.

    Seems the formula is working whatever its intentions.  I mean the revolving door of publicity created and sustained around the occult imagery and the purveyors trope’ing (verbisize it!)  it out given them the sinister sheen (read chic/cool) which translates into dollar signs and attention capital.

    VC is a fundie gossip rag and ironically enough cover some interesting topics and symbolism but of course it is pictured through the same judeo-christian glasses without fail.

    I remember being hauled off to a Billy Graham stadium revival as a young lad and hearing the first conceptualization of “altars” and “mind control.”  I don’t discount they are real, they were just perceived through the same judeo-christian literalist glasses that VC is now donning and I opted to walk out and play video games rather than sit in that mental swirl.
