Newly Unearthed Mayan Hieroglyphs Point To December 2012, With A Twist

Recently the Mayan calendar system was found to extend far beyond 2012, perhaps giving some respite to those who feared that the world would end by next Christmas. Now a new discovery once again highlights December 21, 2012, but as the end of a political cycle, rather than doomsday. I say bring it on. Phys.Org reports:

Archaeologists working at the site of La Corona in Guatemala have discovered a 1,300 year-old year-old Maya text that provides only the second known reference to the so-called “end date” for the Maya calendar on December 21, 2012. The discovery, one of the most significant hieroglyphic find in decades, was announced today at the National Palace in Guatemala.

“This text talks about ancient political history rather than prophecy,” says Marcello A. Canuto, Director of Tulane’s Middle American Research Institute and co-director of the excavations at the Maya ruins of La Corona. “This new evidence suggests that the 13 Bak’tun date was an important calendrical event that would have been celebrated by the ancient Maya.”

The hieroglyphs commemorated a royal visit to La Corona in AD 696 by the most powerful Maya ruler of that time, Yuknoom Yich’aak K’ahk’ of Calakmul. The key to understanding the reference to 2012 is a unique title that the Calakmul king gives himself. In the text, he calls himself the “13 K’atun lord”—that is, the king who presided over and celebrated an important calendar ending, the 13th K’atun cycle (

Rather than prophesy, the 2012 reference served to place this king’s troubled reign and accomplishments into a larger cosmological framework. “This was a time of great political turmoil in the Maya region and this king felt compelled to allude to a larger cycle of time that happens to end in 2012.”

    what about leap years?

    • well since the maynas were apparently aliens with super future telling brains (minus the fact they didnt see their own demise) maybe they knew we would invent leap year and still be able to tell the exact on the date of 2012 when chaos would go down?

      •  it’s not based on the Gregorian calendar and thus doesn’t actually say 2012 anywhere in their records…. scholars pinned it down so that we could connect the two and our leap years were taken into account.

this is kind of a silly article though… some king new 2012 was awesome and tried to connect himself to the date so all speculation on the subject up until now is to be considered solved? -_-

quick tip, 2012 is two things. the end of the general quarantine around Earth, though that doesn’t specifically mean anything immediate, and the tipping point of going into slightly more positive people on the planet as opposed to up until now where negativity has always held the majority. 2013-2015 are going to be a lot more interesting than December in all likelihood.

        • End of the general quarantine around Earth? And you thought this article was silly lol…

          •  I’m sorry, you must not know much. anything you’d like me to explain?

          • please explain to use the quarantine around the earth. I would love to learn more of this

          • as much as I will probably regret this as this is probably 1000% sarcasm, Reanha could actually have an interest in the world around her.. can never tell with just text..

given, there are millions of civilizations in the universe.
given, there are hundreds of advanced civilizations in our galaxy.
given, becoming “advanced” requires a certain level of morals and connection to “source”.
given, we are very young, and purposefully very dark.
it is the agreed way of the general universe to not interfere with young budding civilizations, or else they won’t have dealt with their own problems; they will have suckled mommies tit and will then carry their darkness around with them ever more.

as we tip over into positivity, we overturn that “law” and it becomes possible for far greater interaction on a wide scale. BUT, that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen in December 2012 or even in 2013. Our many watchers are “smarter” than us at this point and are waiting for US to shape up.

If you cannot believe that, that’s fine.
            If you need more, research.
If you already knew that, you know you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

I’m wondering how you know this.  Not asking you to prove anything.  Just asking how this was proven to you, what experience(s) did you have that confirms this as truth.

Personally I don’t think anyone can predict the future, which is what you are attempting.  Are you ready to handle the possibility you are not just dead wrong, but maybe even deceived as well?

          • Are you ready to handle the possibility that what he speaks is right, and that perhaps you have been deceived?

          • one of the laws of everything is that the “only constant is change…” so yes it is not possible for someone to accurately predict the future, but with great numbers there are some things that can become more or less a “matter of time” that advanced beings can observe and estimate.

If you seek “proof” you are asking for physical evidence, but you should know that 99% of 99% of the universe is non-physical. What you need is personal experience. Asking for everything to be presented to you in 3D is a sure fire way to miss the boat. Most of the modern valid information available to all of us is brought through channels who connect to “other worldly beings,” or whatever you need to call them to consider it all possible.

A lot of people still in this world are not willing to accept the fact that channeling is possible. A lot of people are frauds that abuse that belief for personal profit and wound the trust of others when they are found out; but that does not invalidate the real channels. I have met some personally and there are several you can follow for free all over the internet. Again, there are hundreds of fakes as well. Walk your own path, use your discretion, and you can find answers to whatever it is you seek.

Or you can ask me. =D If I don’t know I will say so.

I wasn’t asking for proof, I know that conundrum.

Channelling may very well be possible, but if it is, you may be deceived by those on the other end.

And you may not think they have anything to gain by telling you this information, since to you it is so “odd”.  But ask yourself what may be gained by deceiving you?

Is it that by such-and-such a date, you sit around and do NOTHING because you think things are out of your hands?  What’s a few months, right?

But consider an even bigger play: every religion is a big hoax to sucker you into worshipping some random (existing) deity.  And you rejected them all but you didn’t reject the 2012 bit.  That’s how they got ya.  Do nothing, just a little bit longer, until the deities come back to collect the suckers.  Surprise!  This one came on the date he said he would.  Doesn’t that make you just wanna go worship him forever?

For what it’s worth, I can leave a place and come back later at an agreed upon time.  Not a fancy superpower, that.  Just gotta keep a calendar.

          •  you’re absolutely right that deception is very possible, and I was trying to point out that it is in fact rampant in the world of “channels” and “contacts.” The universe is for one, not pure good, there is a lot of dark out there to act as a counter to the light, and many people, because they have no idea what they are doing, connect to anything that will talk to them and they are very purposefully deceived. Often as a means to make them sit around and do nothing, just as you say.

A real channel will never give a solid date, that’s impossible, a real psychic never will either. There are also a fair number of control questions that you can bring up to call out phonies, such as homosexuality because there is nothing wrong with it but a lot of people who are afraid of the concept and will give a really stupid answer when asked a difficult question.

After you spend several+ years searching for answers you start to get a feel for what BS smells like and start to notice that it’s all over the place. When you find even just one real spiritual teacher though it can change everything.

Deities are a dime a dozen and they’ve always been here, there’s no “coming back” of God or Jehovah or whatever, they’re still here, they never left. You’re either in touch with someone interested in helping you, or you’re not, there are plenty to choose from. It’s not a big deal to the universe what you believe/do, but it should be a big deal for YOU. And the rest of us would certainly appreciate your help ;p

Though it has nothing to do with channels I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Eckhart Tolle’s “A New Earth” to EVERYONE interested in bettering themselves, starting their spiritual journey, or already well on their path.

          •  where could I find more info on this ? whats this “theory” called ?

          •  If you’re interested watch these two for starters, and there are hundreds more from the same two to browse at you’re leisure.

If anyone doubts their authenticity, by all means, find us something they said that was wrong; they have had cameras on them for decades. Find us something that you do not agree with (misinterpretation is not impossible). And if you cannot, consider, that they are really doing what they say they are doing. Life is not so simple as Heaven and Hell, good and bad, terrestrial and extra terrestrial. It does all of us a lot of good to take in new ideas.

I think they did see their own demise just like the native americans did. if you understood what 2012 ment to the mayans you would understand it is a “galactic season” that is changing, just like spring into summer..
The mayans believed with this season comes characteristics like our weathered seasons are here..
They knew what was coming but understood it as a dark time that was avoidable..The egyptians also knew about this and predicted many things that happened by understanding these “solar seasons”. Dont mistake that with particular events, they only understood when the “good” and “bad” times were..

    •  that was debunked, they don’t play a factor

I would like to add to this… I’m new to the site, but not in the search for truth 🙂
I do not believe the earth or even humans will cease to exist after 12/21/2012… But I do believe that we have entered a global awakening, and our way of living is changing. I also believe that there could be a significant, life-changing event on the date that we enter the new Mayan calendar cycle. These are just my beliefs… stipulations….
BUT, there was an article on National Geographic recently, which was very interesting. Interesting for a few reasons…
1.) Even though the whole “Mayan 2012 Apocalypse” being spread around was never something historians accepted, because that is not what the ancient texts wrote about, National Geographic claimed to have “Debunked” the prophecy. When, the only thing that was talked about in Mayan texts were the cycles of seasons, lives, historic events (climate or otherwise), and about how the above date would end the long count cycle- but start a new one. It is like the tarot card of Death. The card does not represent “you will die”… It represents a major change. Something will end for a new beginning…
2.) They labeled a panel of a newly discovered mural as “3 Wide Men.” Which is completely inaccurate, and makes me question the integrity of the “scientists” involved with the excavation. I am an Art major who has only 1 term of Art History so far… And, to me, this is obviously a narrative. It shows a younger faced figure on the left and reads just like a story, with the boy growing into a man. Something that strikes me as odd, though, are the headdresses worn in this panel, and the color of the figure. When looking at other Mayan Art (which I have admired for years), I have never seen someone painted in pure black skin tone. All of the one I have seen have been different shades of brown. The headdress atop the mans head (to me) resembles those worn in ancient Egypt. I have never seen any Mayan art wearing those.
So, this unearthed chamber should be raising questions and eyebrows about who was being depicted, not to just pull a date off of the wall and “debunk” a myth, that was never really a myth to begin with.

P.S. I also found out that National Geographic is owned by the Fox network, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised…

  4. Got Malk?

As usual, 90% of the “science reporters” spin 2012-related information into a doomsday / non-doomsday framework. This completely misses the point. This is a very important find, and it reinforces how the ancient Maya were thinking about 2012. As a “literary device”, a Maya king’s use of the 2012 date was indeed partly political, but it was based on his demonstrable relationship with 2012. That relationship, for Calakmul’s Yuknoom as well as for Tortuguero’s Lord Jaguar, was astronomical in nature. This second 2012 date, like the one from Tortuguero, adds another piece of support for my “2012 alignment theory” (which is NOT a doomsday theory), first published 18 years ago.  Here is my preliminary treatment of the La Corona “2012” text:
