The War on Kids (Trailer)

Via The War On Kids:

The War on Kids is a documentary on Public Education in America. While several documentaries on schools have come out since The War on Kids, these films tend to be either propaganda for charter schools or look at symptoms without any appreciation or understanding of underlying issues. To be a great documentary, it is essential to do the necessary work and dig deeper to uncover the heart of the problems observed. The numerous failures and pathologies associated with school are predominantly due to it autocratic structure. Because no one wants to voluntarily relinquish power, this fundamental problem is never addressed or even recognized.

All we have left to teach our kids is what it’s like to live in a fascist-industrial-Orwellian-police state.

    • And with the conformist robot-factory prisons calling themselves “schools”, like those seen in “The War on Kids” indoctrinating kids, and with the TSA being allowed to conduct naked scans, and molesting strip searches, while the SHEEPLE just willingly go along with it without fighting back as more & more rights are eroded (eerily reminiscent of another era — 60-70 years ago)we’re already IN a fascist-industrial-Orwellian police state!!!

I’m beginning to think that Columbine was the education equivalent of 9/11.¬† It set a precedent on how our public school systems works like no other.

    • Yep, Columbine resulted in an EVEN FURTHER (because to an extent, schools have ALWAYS been fascist & conformist robot-factory prisons ever since its very inception) POLICE STATE in schools, and 9/11 resulted in the fascist TSA, and a POLICE STATE in not only airports but society in general! ūüôĀ

  4. the 19th century factory school system
has no place in the 21st century
except as a baby sitting service and
an indoctrination mechanism to inculcate the Amerikan Dream in its spawn

Jesus, you’d think no one had ever heard of the internet.
Is there really something you can’t Google-up into the way of information?

  5. what exactly is so bad about public school, that doesn’t equal adulthood and being employed? this trailer showed nothing but kids that like summer break better than school(duh) and police searching what might have been a school with a serious gang problem for all we know. Looks like a silly, pointless documentary like a documentary of the torture of our children by making them eat salad with dinner.

¬†If you’re truly interested, do some research on the history of government schooling. Look up the Prussian education system. Here’s a brief synopsis on that:

Read John Taylor Gatto or, if you’re less inclined to reading, watch, The Ultimate History Lesson:

On a final note, government education may not be the best place to learn grammar.

“On a final note, government education may not be the best place to learn grammar.”

I can attest to that! ¬†Putting on my auto-didactic hat and doing the work my gov’t schule was designed to fail at miserably. ¬† ¬†Thank you everyone for commenting, it’s beautiful to see everyone sharing information and removing piece by piece the blinders of society.

“this trailer showed nothing but kids…and police searching what might have been a school with a
serious gang problem for all we know”.¬†

I don’t know about you, but I know that what I saw from that trailer was footage from the infamous Goose Creek High School raid in South Carolina back in 2003. Kids were put against
the wall while the police searched for drugs. One of the cops pointed a gun at one of the students. The raid turned up zero drugs. I don’t see how interrupting a day at school by
performing a real drug raid was conducive to the educational process.

  6. Saw this EXCELLENT film last night (and am re-watching it again, as I type) and its already one of my favorite documentaries, if not one of my FAVORITE movies altogether!!
Definitely a MUST-SEE for all parents! If you ever wonder why so many kids hate school (and if you think the reason is all about “just having fun”, THINK AGAIN!) this film eloquently illustrates the reasons why!!

A prison-like police state atmosphere,¬†metal detectors, “Zero Tolerance”, surveillance cameras, armed raids, searches with drug-sniffing police dogs,¬†the often unnecessary forced medicating of kids with highly potent mind-altering toxic chemicals…………and that’s all before you even actually ENTER the classroom!

Schools are nothing more than (and even more so, these days!) conformist robot-factory prisons, who indoctrinate (and drug the unwilling, creative ones who don’t fit in the mold, until their as robotic & beat) kids for over a decade of their lives¬†trying to churn out identical cookie-cutter little zombies as perfect slaves to toil for their corporate masters for whatever pittance their feudal lords deem them worthy of!!

I don’t even have kids, but if/when I do, movies like this & others (Generation Rx, Prescription for Disaster, etc.) as well as my own experiences in school, and my own current (and past) reading & research are just some OF MANY reasons why I’d NEVER, EVER send my kid(s) to conventional schools if I can help it!¬†

This Doc should be shown to ANY opponents of Homeschooling! I’ve been Homeschooling my children for several years now¬†and have NO rerets! The current system is basically a¬†glorified babysitter and meat grinder; spitting out broken human beings. I love my children enough to send them out into the world as¬†a whole person with¬†an entact self-esteem and factually based knowledge. The propaganda shoveled¬†down¬†the throats of our most impressionable, in these instituational learning facilities, is sickening.
