He pushes the “green” agenda (not the party but the AGW theorist fanatics) while denouncing his own signature on a petition questioning the US governments involvement in the 9/11 attacks.

“He resigned in September 2009 after Republicans in Congress began attacking his past affiliations, none of which had to do with his environmental work but which included a signed petition questioning if the Bush administration had purposely allowed the 9/11 attacks as a pretext to war*” -La Times (”Van Jones, President Obama’s former “Green Jobs Czar,” spoke to Tavis Smiley in one of his first public interviews since his resignation last year.Jones told Smiley he never signed the “truther” petition that was the catalyst downfall. The activist and author told Smiley about his “tough lesson”:
Van Jones:… I believe that 9/11 was a conspiracy by Al-Qaida and Osama Bin Laden, and nobody else, trying to hurt America. What happened to me on that tough lesson learned for me, six years ago, I was at a conference, some people came up to me. They said, ‘Hey, we represent 9-11 families.’ I’m like, ‘OK, good to meet you.’ They said, ‘We need your help. Will you help us?’ I said, ‘Sure, whatever you want.’And then these people, I didn’t know what their agenda was, they went and put my name on some abhorrent, crazy language they never showed me, I never saw. And it just sat there on this web site for years. Somebody discovered it, and then boom. So people actually believe that I actually signed onto something that I never saw and never signed onto. And that became part of the firestorm. I decided at that point that I needed to resign because I was becoming a distraction.” * It wasn’t so “abhorrent” that Ed Asner, Ralph Nader, Cynthia McKinney or Janeane Garafalo felt the need to turn tail and run giving their participation,  as this political opportunist obviously did to maintain his connection to power.Jones resigned from his position at the White House in September 2008. He told Smiley that it was solely his decision to resign. He has since joined the think tank Center For American Progress, and has been appointed as a fellow at Princeton University.  – Huffington Post ( group called, whose mission is to “expose the official lies and coverup surrounding the events of Sept. 11, 2001,” lists Jones as a signatory of a 2004 statement, “Demanding Deeper Investigation into the Events of 9/11.”
It “calls for immediate public attention to unanswered questions that suggest that people within the current administration may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war.”
Jones’ name appears among the names of “100 prominent Americans” who endorsed this vile conspiracy manifesto. Others included actor Ed Asner, comic Janeane Garofalo, former Rep. Cynthia McKinney and Ralph Nader.

      Van Jones is a Coward @ #occupywallstreet
Does this sound like “abhorrent crazy language” to you? As, “A Yale-educated attorney”, I sincerely doubt it, or is he in the habit of signing things without reading them?

      “A Yale-educated attorney” –

Here is the statement for the record.  I don’t see anything “abhorrent or crazy” there do you.

The StatementWe Want Real Answers About 9/11On August 31, 2004, Zogby International, the official North American political polling agency for Reuters, released a poll that found nearly half (49.3%) of New York City residents and 41% of those in New York state believe US leaders had foreknowledge of impending 9/11 attacks and “consciously failed” to act. Of the New York City residents, 66% called for a new probe of unanswered questions by Congress or the New York Attorney General.

In connection with this news, we have assembled 100 notable Americans and 40 family members of those who died to sign this 9/11 Statement, which calls for immediate public attention to unanswered questions that suggest that people within the current administration may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war.We want truthful answers to questions such as:Why were standard operating procedures for dealing with hijacked airliners not followed that day?
Why were the extensive missile batteries and air defenses reportedly deployed around the Pentagon not activated during the attack?
Why did the Secret Service allow Bush to complete his elementary school visit, apparently unconcerned about his safety or that of the schoolchildren?
Why hasn’t a single person been fired, penalized, or reprimanded for the gross incompetence we witnessed that day?
Why haven’t authorities in the U.S. and abroad published the results of multiple investigations into trading that strongly suggested foreknowledge of specific details of the 9/11 attacks, resulting in tens of millions of dollars of traceable gains?
Why has Sibel Edmonds, a former FBI translator who claims to have knowledge of advance warnings, been publicly silenced with a gag order requested by Attorney General Ashcroft and granted by a Bush-appointed judge?
How could Flight 77, which reportedly hit the Pentagon, have flown back towards Washington D.C. for 40 minutes without being detected by the FAA’s radar or the even superior radar possessed by the US military?
How were the FBI and CIA able to release the names and photos of the alleged hijackers within hours, as well as to visit houses, restaurants, and flight schools they were known to frequent?
What happened to the over 20 documented warnings given our government by 14 foreign intelligence agencies or heads of state?
Why did the Bush administration cover up the fact that the head of the Pakistani intelligence agency was in Washington the week of 9/11 and reportedly had $100,000 wired to Mohamed Atta, considered the ringleader of the hijackers?
Why did the 911 Commission fail to address most of the questions posed by the families of the victims, in addition to almost all of the questions posed here?
Why was Philip Zelikow chosen to be the Executive Director of the ostensibly independent 911 Commission although he had co-authored a book with Condoleezza Rice? Those who are demanding deeper inquiry now number in the hundreds of thousands, including a former member of the first Bush administration, a retired Air Force colonel, a European parliamentarian, families of the victims, highly respected authors, investigative journalists, peace and justice leaders, former Pentagon staff, and the National Green Party. As Americans of conscience, we ask for four things:An immediate investigation by New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer
      Immediate investigation in Congressional Hearings.
Media attention to scrutinize and investigate the evidence.
The formation of a truly independent citizens-based inquiry.Given the importance of the coming election, we feel it is imperative that these questions be addressed publicly, honestly, and rigorously so that Americans may exercise their democratic rights with full awareness. In closing, we pray and hope for the strength to approach this subject with wisdom and compassion so that we may heal from the wounds inflicted on that terrible day.Signed,

  2. Luke, you need to stop being so confrontational and assholish if you expect to get some useful dialog out of people.  Van Jones is on our side, the people’s side, and his record clearly backs this up.

    • Whose side is “our” side exactly?  Sorry he pushes a discredited hoax which would cause massive devastation for the poor who he claims to represent, “Green Jobs” anyone….

Also since when does asking an authoritative question to a politician constitute being “confrontational and assholish?”  Give me a break.

Luke keep doing what you are doing.  Don’t let these uber ‘pc’ detractors sway you one bit.

Keep showing them what real journalism looks like and never mind the stockholm syndrome sycophants.  To me attacking a messenger is truly assholish and confrontational.

So ‘real journalism’ is not doing enough research on your interview subject to know they’ve already made response statements regarding your question?  I found the info within 20 sec of web search.

20 seconds is alot of research!   Read my post below outlining how nonsensical Van Jones’ “defense” was.  He essentially lied to everyone’s face and didn’t have the decency to say, I should have read more closely given that I am a Yale law graduate.  pffft.. give me a break Calypso.

  3. This is the first time I didn’t absolutely hate watching something involving Luke Rudkowski. It actually appeared to be a reasonable conversation between 2 human beings.

Speaking of Co-opting – WAC is not representative of Occupy and constantly attempts to tie the movement to it’s Prisonplantetesque ‘libertarian’ views.

    • Camron Wiltshire | Jun 14, 2012 at 7:34 pm |

Sorry, from my experience and sources, there are just as many folks who want to abolish the fed, reinvestigate 9/11, and remove corporate personhood in the various camps at occupy.

Occupy is not the sole province of anyone and thank goodness for that.

  5. StopCampingStartParticipating | Jun 15, 2012 at 9:22 am |

The Occupy movement is teetering on the brink of having outlived its usefulness. It was a great place to start…raising awareness about a number of important issues that no one else was willing to acknowledge. But Occupation was only the first step and now it is time for Implementation. Get off your asses and start participating. If you don’t like any of the candidates who are currently running then elect some of your own. If the Occupy movement is unwilling/unable to evolve and move forward, then it is as good as dead…
