Can Americans Escape the Deception?

A lament written for U.S. Independence Day, by Paul Craig Roberts:

Hot Air Day is upon us. On July 4 hot air will spew forth all over the country as dignitaries deliver homilies to our “freedom and democracy” and praise “our brave troops” who are protecting our freedom by “killing them over there before they come over here.”

Not a single one of these speeches will contain one word of truth. No speaker will lament the death of the US Constitution or urge his audience to action to restore the only document that protects their liberty. No speaker will acknowledge that in the 21st century the Bush/Obama Regime, with the complicity of the Department of Justice, federal courts, Congress, presstitute media, law schools, bar associations, and an insouciant public have murdered the Constitution in the name of the “war on terror.

As in medieval times, American citizens can be thrown into dungeons and never accounted for. No evidence or charges need be presented to a court. No trial is required, and no conviction.

As in tyrannies, US citizens can be executed at the sole discretion of the despot in the Oval Office, who sits there drawing up lists of people to be murdered.

Protesters exercising their constitutionally guaranteed rights to freedom of speech and freedom of association are attacked by armed police, beaten, tasered, tear-gassed, pepper-sprayed, and arrested.

Whistleblowers who report the government’s crimes are prosecuted despite the statute that protects them…

Let’s change July 4th to “Tyranny Day” and celebrate it by sitting in our shanty huts and watching American Gladiators, eating GMO corn and peeking thru the blinds to see when the Gestapo will be coming for us!

lamenting the lose of freedoms won’t bring them back
and hoping the herd will of finally figured it out is futile
installing another government of Capuchin monkeys is pointless

we may have reached a new point in social evolution
where those who can make a break for the exit should
and it doesn’t have to be another country
but it does have to be another way of living

“but it does have to be another way of living” Are there any that stand out to you as looking more promising than others? I like the idea of anarcho-socialist city-states…glorified hippie communes, I suppose. But I have also wondered what would happen if we were to take the best elements of two Huxley classics – Brave New World and Island – and combine them into one ideally functioning society…

I don’t have a specific plan in mind
        except get to the exit
which I have pretty much succeeded in doing
but still not 100% out (as you can see)

        following preconceived social models
is how we got into this mess in the first place
        so I wouldn’t encourage that

but I have done enough free-style experimentation
in many different environments, countries and social settings
to know a full exit is possible
and that there are other people who have made it out too
and that its a better life than the one in the matrix
        Happy Trails

Americans love the deception, we have embraced self deception since our nation started breaking away from England, fighting for freedom and justice is much more comfortable than accepting that we have always been land grabbers and war profiteers. our collective self image is so tightly wrapped up in the many deceptions that we never want to see through them
