Hilarious Eighties-Era Focus on the Family Anti-Porn Film

Via BoingBoing:

You’ve got to love the crowd’s morose expressions as they attend an anti-pornography talk from evangelical Christian hate group Fucking Up Your Family Focus on The Family leader James Dobson. If you’re into feathered hair and Cosby sweaters then you’re in for a real treat.

That was Ted Danson and Kelsey Grammar in their prime. Its the place where everybody knows your name, I sold you and you sold me, under the spreading chestnut tree. Victory gin and misery’s grin.

I think that the impact of the pornography industry on society is underrated by the cosmopolitan leftist tools. That being said, the moral majority were a peculiar bunch.

I beat the war on pornography ever night. I strangle the struggle against smut thrice daily. I flog the dolphin of downloadable digital degenercy every chance I get. I pound that purple helmeted purveyor of prurience like it owes me money!!!

Well porn is mostly bad. Its not really sex positive in my opinion. It just reinforces the values that sex is bad sex is dirty and degrading. I think porn reinforces patriarchal anti-sex values actually. Its something you do alone in a dark room and feel ashamed off afterwards.

So yeah, this clip is kind of funny and Dr. Dobson is really stiff and the 80’s hairstyles are a riot  and his approach is really authoritarian.

But from an anti-authoritrian perspective, I have kind of a similar opinion.

Better to find somebody to have sex with than to wank off on your computer. I think if sex is healthy than its moral.

I think now that its so available maybe more people are moving past it, but I could be wrong.

Explain all that to the people who believe sex the be immoral, period.

Well, not all evangelicals believe that. Tim La Haye actually wrote a sex manual that even endorses cunnilingus/blow jobs. (between husband and wife obviously) and its not even that recent. It was written in the 70’s.

I am a former Evangelical and went to Bible college at a Baptist school so I should know. You don’t really get an accurate picture of what Evangelicals believe by watching televangelists. Not that they aren’t sexually repressed especially in terms of homophobia, but its not accurate to say Evangelicals are completely anti-sex or believe that sex is only for procreation. That’s more old school Catholic. And that’s even outdated and doesn’t represent modern Catholics.

I realize that it’s not all who consider sex for anything other than procreation wrong, it was them I was speaking about, such as the people who make such a film about media that is in itself harmless.

If someone gets addicted, well, it wasn’t the media that caused it, not directly.

    Let’s see…

Porn is all over cable…  Matter of fact, cable itself is competing with the PPV “Porn” as various “Wardrobe Malfunctions” push what they can do/use…

The RL stores are closing, but 10x the available material replaces them online, including illegal stuff that in RL few if any retailers with a home, store, bank account would dare risk selling…

    The Family is destroyed…
—-Anyone “Married” is playing roulette.  The state wants to destroy any responsible, productive male, especially a WHITE one, and they’ll use his woman to do it.  Only places a standard marriage/family is remotely safe is religious communities and the state will soon destroy them…
—Save the 1% ers of course, those able to afford full time lawyers as part of their staff.  The “Pre-Nups” do work for them.

But, we gots us plenty of porn for those increasingly lonely moments…  Oh, well…
