America’s Nuclear Bomb Facility Shut Down After 82-Year-Old Nun Breaches Security

The task of keeping the government compound safe is handled by a private company–global security giant G4S, also known for a bungling job at the ongoing London Olympics. Via Reuters:

The U.S. government’s only facility for handling, processing and storing weapons-grade uranium has been temporarily shut after anti-nuclear activists, including an 82-year-old nun, breached security fences, government officials said on Thursday.

WSI Oak Ridge, the contractor responsible for protecting the facility at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is owned by the international security firm G4S, which was at the center of a dispute over security at the London Olympic Games.

Officials said the facility was shut down on Wednesday at least until next week after three activists cut through perimeter fences to reach the outer wall of a building where highly enriched uranium, a key nuclear bomb component, is stored.

Ellen Barfield, a spokeswoman for the activists who called themselves “Transform Now Plowshares,” said three were arrested and charged with vandalism and criminal trespass. She said the three, identified as Megan Rice, 82, Michael Walli, 63 and Greg Boertje-Obed, 57, were being held in custody and appeared for a hearing before a U.S. magistrate judge in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Thursday.

So those 30 million plus aborted babies don’t count – there were no abortion clinics she could breach?

What are you talking about.  Oh… stereotyping, I see.  I think it is time to grow up a little.  What say?

and you’re the one whose infantile.

    • every year there are miscarriages & still-births
about 50% of all pregnancies miscarry
a much higher number than man-made abortions
      usually in the early stages
before many even think they’re pregnant
so let’s put God on trial about those abortions
      or at the very east
reserve our judgement on those who imitate God’s acts

      in the meantime
      the Military-Industrial-Bankster Complex
      has been working hard
to subjugate and exploit as many people as possible
      using weapons of mass destruction

I think the nun’s have their priorities straight

She chose to protest the production of nuclear weapons by her own government… what the hell does abortion have to do with anything? Apparently she has priorities which are different from yours. That’s how the world works.

If you want you protest abortions, go protest abortions… nobody is stopping you (unlike Ms. Rice, who must contend with G4S). That is, of course, unless your priorities don’t allow you the time to stand up for what you believe.

I suspect that nuclear war will end a great many more baby’s lives than abortion….

Yes, but nukes will make Jesus come back.

There’s a great book on this topic: “Apocalypse Pretty Soon.” by Alex Heard. Definitely worth picking up if you’re interested in the juxtaposition of apocalyptic prophecy and international geopolitics.

Middle aged and senior citizens behaving this way?  Hmm…  Perhaps some Americans are sick of our country being the bully it has become under both Republican and Democratic leaders.  I know I am.

Why can’t we go back to being the good guys?  We never really were and a little historical reading will prove me out on this, but we at least did a better job of pretending.
