Police in Combat Gear Confront Anaheim Protesters

A scene from some urban battleground somewhere in the Middle East? Nope, Anaheim, CA. As protesters voice their outrage over the killing of Manuel Diaz, police in clad in full battle dress maintain an intimidating presence. Take a look at an incredible (and incredibly disturbing) collection of photos at RightNow.io.

If ever there was such a thing as an Andy Griffith-type lawman, he’s been replaced by paramilitary thugs.

Andy didn’t need a gun, and though Barney Fife had one, he had but one bullet.

Next thing you know, today’s cops will be carrying RPGs and turning Mini-Guns on peaceful protesters.

Automatic weaponry and sniper installations?  I feel calmer already.

I just hope they never have to turn their backs or make even the slightest misjudgment or anything like that.  Not that there’s been any precedent for a city to be thrown into chaos by ham-fisted policing . . .

it is hard to believe that at one point U2 was a relevant likeable band….

the god damned Chinese and their repression has got to stop
you can’t treat people like animals and use force against them
China needs to seriously wake up and give its people
the right to peaceful assembly and free speech

what?! this happened in The Land of the Free?
well, never mind, those protestors must be trouble makers
    probably asking for it

The future of this country is not looking too bright. It’s a failed experiment. Go back to watching Dancing with the Stars, nothing to see here, move along. It will be interesting to see how these thug law enforcement types will fare when the collapse happens. I guess they forgot about the 2nd amendment and think they are above the law and invincible. From healthcare, banking, education, and government to law enforcement, this country has really turned into a giant pile of excrement. It’s quite sad really. It’s sad that the pigs in this country go along with their fascist puppet masters wishes and totally shit on the pubic. I predict the occupational hazards of being a cop will increase exponentially as we continue to swirl the drain. I guess cops aren’t known for their critical thinking skills. We will see how well the ‘just following orders’ thing works out this time around.

I suspect that they will discover that BDUs don’t stop bullets.

And those fancy “bullet proof” vests they’re wearing might turn handgun bullets or even some battle-rifle bullets, but don’t do so hot against hunting rifles.

I’m a continent away from those idiots and I’m still infuriated that they’d attempt to intimidate a city by a show of arms in this way.

When the mob finally turns on them and tears them (or shoots them) to pieces, there will be little question as to why and only as to why it took so long.

So they are going to shoot everyone? Don’t they know Americans are desensitized to guns. If anything offer people some coupons to some anti gay chicken fillet sammiches, seems like they are all the rage these days.

    More tanks please.

The regular police look legit with badges and marked cars, it’s the militarised ones that look dodgy. Most of them don’t have any badges and arrived in unmarked vehicles and what looks like bog standard 4x4s, and any pictures where you can see a design on the lapel is blurry. I know people who play airsoft that dress like that and have that gear most of which you can buy from any army surplus store. Dodgy.

they fail to do the real numbers, even with all their fancy gear and drones. in wisconson alone in 2011 there were 300,000 deer hunters registered. thats a big army and everyone with a high powered rifle and probably a scope on it. 300,000 angry hunters in camo with scoped rifles make a huge army. now then consider that the primitive afgani’s kicked the russians out of their country and have literally fought the best  the US can bring to bear to a virtual standstill and now the US wants to leave because they know they cant win. what can the authorities expect to do against just the wisconsin deer hunters alone

    • I_abide

They’ll try drones and fail.  If an Afghani in a cave with a cheap laptop portable satellite and 20 dollar hunk of Russian software can intercept surveillance feedback from a drone I give some 12 year old in the US about 3 days to figure out how to hack the feed completely and have the best flight sim ever made.

I wonder when force will be met with force? Does it need to happen? I think we could see some change with mass boycotts of taxes, work and buying shit but that would require us all to participate.  It’s obvious shouting, marching and beating drums ain’t doing shit, call me when you’re all ready to hit back.

Every time I try to tell my parents about this stuff, they think I’m crazy because I read about it on the internet.   Really infuriating.  They don’t even seem to care that they are leaving a grim future for their children.
