Eleven Scary Evil Monsters from World Religions

Via Mental Floss:

Terrifying monsters have lumbered, lurched, stalked and devoured their way through many world religions for untold millennia.

They were sometimes devised to frighten for purposes of cultural control – or as mythologic personifications of harsh, inexplicable forces. In the case of the Book of Revelation, monsters often symbolized the oppressive political tactics of the Roman empire.

Today’s religious monsters might well include: a ghoulish pedophile Priest with scaly-gropy fingers; or a polyester-swaddled fire-breathing Baptist Preacher; or maybe a grinning Televangelist that spews fundamentalist bile from its jack-o-lantern head; or a shape-shifting Republican p

olitician that can somehow take the form of & draw hateful power from every pitchfork wielding mob it encounters, no matter the religion.

Now if only Sam & Dean from “Supernatural” would hunt THEM!

Please rename your article “Another fag atheist bitches about religion”, so that I won’t waste my time clicking on this.  thanks in advance

Does your comment refer to the article or to the intro?

I don’t quite see how opposition to religious abusers (pedophiles, charlatans, etc) or a fascination with some of the more mythic components of world religions, makes one either homosexual or an atheist.

Not that I’m concerned all that much with either identifier, but I am curious about your equation.

Hmmm, the butthurt is strong in this one.

If you’re looking for some good butthurt, look up the Popobawa – a bat-winged, cyclopian demon that haunts the island of Pemba. It appears every election cycle (for some reason) and marathon butt-rapes men who do not believe in it.

  3. so you just made up a title so people would read your article? now who’s spreading dis-info

Aha … I see the problem. You actually have to click on “Via Mental Floss” to read the actual article. Otherwise, you just get the intro. The actual article lists the scary monsters. The intro just makes snarky commentary on present day monsters.

    Sorry for the confusion ….
