oh look, more annoying, facebook style content that only serves to  perpetuate some unimportant white dude’s ego. THIS IS WHY I LOVE DISINFO

    • Matt Staggs | Sep 11, 2012 at 7:02 pm |

Much of our content is contributed by our community, one member of which is comedian and writer Lee Camp. I encourage you to contribute your own “awesome post(s)” for the enlightenment and entertainment of our readers. Feel free to contact me directly at matt@disinfo.com, and I’ll help you get started. I look forward to your submissions.

wrote for disinfo in the 90’s when the site was still good. there’s my contribution. cheers.

        • Matt Staggs | Sep 11, 2012 at 8:30 pm |

Yet you’ve still hung around for a decade-plus, and now your primary contributions are suspiciously juvenile comments. Again, please let me know if you’d like to return the site to its former glory by contributing your own material. If it’s anything like your comments then I’m sure we’ll all have much to enjoy.

          • AWESOME_POST_DUDE | Sep 12, 2012 at 1:42 pm |

Being a pedantic shit to your audience doesn’t help the site any. Note my criticism and move on like a professional would, otherwise, please tell Ralph to fire you. cheers

Dude …. stand up carefully. Remove the corncob from your chair seat. Sit back down. I promise you’ll feel better.

          • Calypso_1 | Sep 12, 2012 at 3:19 pm |

I suspect the degree of retention would preclude its remaining on the chair unless previously affixed for purposes of self-induced butt hurt.

          • lifobryan | Sep 12, 2012 at 3:42 pm |

However, I make neither assumption nor judgement as to how the corncob arrived in its present location, whether self-induced or otherwise. I merely wanted to point out that AWESOME_POST_DUDE might feel better once said location is no longer his arse.

          • Calypso_1 | Sep 12, 2012 at 3:54 pm |

Yes, no judgement at all.  We all have different ways to fill the emptiness inside.

          • AWESOME_POST_DUDE | Sep 12, 2012 at 7:42 pm |

not surprised someone still representing incredibly old, unfunny jokes (discordianism) would defend the above shitpost from some random youtube “comedian”

          • Calypso_1 | Sep 12, 2012 at 11:40 pm |

            1)      LOB has not defended the poster anywhere in this thread.  He merely contributed his own content related to the post & expressed concern for your personal discomfort.
            2)      I was around Disinfo back in the grand ol’days you seem to remember so fondly and there was love a plenty for Discordianism.
            3)      Since you have obviously moved on to such elevated pastures perhaps you will share some small glimpse of the Elysian Fields upon which you now frolic with the ascended few.

          • AWESOME_POST_DUDE | Sep 13, 2012 at 2:01 pm |

i wouldn’t tell you because i don’t want idiot apologists boring the living shit out of everyone.

          • Calypso_1 | Sep 13, 2012 at 2:31 pm |

Your regard for the collective ennui is in itself so tiresome I feel the scales on my eyes congealing.

          • lifobryan | Sep 13, 2012 at 10:36 am |

You’re right. Everything sucks. Okay, now, please provide an alternative example for us all to follow and admire.

          • AWESOME_POST_DUDE | Sep 13, 2012 at 2:03 pm |

i couldn’t possibly care less about what you find admirable, you flabby skinbag.

          • lifobryan | Sep 13, 2012 at 3:34 pm |

Actually, I’m a skinny flab bag. Get your facts right.

          • Ted Heistman | Sep 12, 2012 at 4:00 pm |

Sometimes when you think you are being all “anti-establishment” you are actually just being a Dick. Take it from me. In this case the “establishment” could be YOU! That’s what he’s offering.

          • I’m with you, bro.   There’s a cancer spreading on disinfo.

          • WalkWithTrust | Sep 13, 2012 at 2:22 pm |

Nothing could possibly “return this site to it’s former glory’, short of a total gutting of the current membership. I remember a time when posts were usually in depth, relevant, sincere, and informative. It was the top site with regard to deep politics, art, magick, and culture. Now I come here as an afterthought when I’m bored and need a side show/ distraction, and only once I’ve exhausted boingboing and the like. Disinfo could go offline and I wouldn’t be phaseed at all. Bigfoot indeed.

  2. lifobryan | Sep 11, 2012 at 7:41 pm |

Modern ghouls are a’hoof indeed …

Media Vampires slurp the life-force from a consumer culture of shuffling Zombies, whose defocused eyes search for braaaiiins in the glowing iRectangles they clutch in their palms.

Plastified Frankensteins heave breasts & buttocks filled with cadaver fat, while their botoxed lips make squeaky-rubber noises whenever they try to speak.

Political mummies, swathed in decaying red, white, & blue bandages, lurch along campaign trails, spouting long-dead ideas and french-kissing babies.

If I’m to spend any more time in the company of modern culture monsters, please give me a hot, buff Werewolf with great pecs …..

  3. chinagreenelvis | Sep 11, 2012 at 9:56 pm |

This is not a new observation. In fact, zombie movies started out as a commentary on this very fact.

  4. TapMeYouFascists | Sep 12, 2012 at 12:57 am |

Professor Jack Forbes of UC Davis wrote a fascinating book called Columbus and Other Cannibals. In this book, Professor Forbes lays out a portrayal of the Native American legend of the ‘wetiko’, and how this legend can help explain a cultural sickness, which compels its members to commit acts of consumption of the essences of others. Just as the legendary wetiko consumed the flesh of former companions, empire culture forces us to participate in the grizzly affair of treating the people around us as objects. We must benefit at a cost to others.

His hypothesis of a spiritual sickness with a physical vector is the closest thing I’ve ever found to an answer as to why people who have been molested are more likely to go out and molest kids. Such a bizarre statistic. Mythology steps into the breach of comprehension and the unexplainable.

So I encourage you all to read the book. It’s short and well written. The only downside is realizing the monsters he describes are real. That takes some getting used to.

    • Ted Heistman | Sep 12, 2012 at 11:28 am |

actually people who have been molested aren’t more likely to go out and molest kids. That’s actually a fallacy and a reason why more people don’t come forward with allegations of childhood sexual abuse.

Anyway, it sounds like a good book, but I had to correct you on that.

      • Calypso_1 | Sep 12, 2012 at 11:51 am |

….I do some work with child sex offenders, the ones that are too young to be incarcerated, so they are sequestered away in a happy little ‘special school’ in a mental health institution.  I have NEVER had a pt who was not themselves molested.
So just because you are molested does not indicate that you are going to become one.  But the vast majority of molesters experienced it themselves.

        • Ted Heistman | Sep 12, 2012 at 12:16 pm |

Well that wording is more accurate I think. Thanks. Incidentally I have worked with brain injured sex offenders.

          • Ted Heistman | Sep 12, 2012 at 12:26 pm |

proving cause and effect is much more problematic than most people think. A sex offender might offend quite a lot and every one of his victims does not go on to become an offender themselves. It really isn’t like being bitten by a vampire, in that sense.

Possibly 1 in 4 people has suffered childhood sexual abuse, which is not to say 1 in 4 people is a potential child molester.

          • Calypso_1 | Sep 12, 2012 at 12:58 pm |

Was there causation between the TBI and sexual behavior?

          • Ted Heistman | Sep 12, 2012 at 1:29 pm |

Sort of. I dunno. It was basically just a job working with people with traumatic brain injuries, but they gave me some of the hard cases, being a dude , working with Dudes that couldn’t have female staff.

So I wasn’t a scientist or anything doing double blind studdies, but I had to go to therapy and to their probation officers with them. I think these guys were basically “sexual opportunists”

But I got some insight into the subject I think. Its kind of a weird thing. I think the therapist was the biggest weirdo of the bunch.

          • Calypso_1 | Sep 12, 2012 at 1:40 pm |

“the therapist was the biggest weirdo of the bunch”….

          • Ted Heistman | Sep 12, 2012 at 1:44 pm |

Ha ha! I know right? It was the guy’s second job too. I was a College professor but chose to Work with violent brain damaged sex offenders as kind of a hobby and live vicariously through their crimes. That was my take on him.

Makes you wonder. I mean maybe he was just a saint, but he gave me the creeps.

          • Ted Heistman | Sep 12, 2012 at 1:45 pm |

             “He was a college professor”

          • Calypso_1 | Sep 12, 2012 at 2:45 pm |

            Now who’s living vicariously?
            ; )

          • Ted Heistman | Sep 12, 2012 at 4:14 pm |

             Ha ha!

    • Ted Heistman | Sep 12, 2012 at 11:32 am |

I think capitalism is such a system, and a more recent development is that people in the West are occluded from seeing just how they benefit collectively at the expense of others, but the thing about capitalism is that it canibalizes its own so more and more people in the US and Europe are finding themselves in the same boat as the so called “developing world” which is really “the kept down world”

Thanks Disinfo….I really enjoy Lee Camp.
    Thanks Lee, for your contributions.

  6. Lee, bro, take a pill, sit back and relax.  You’re way too harsh and not really very funny or illuminating.

  7. WalkWithTrust | Sep 13, 2012 at 2:28 pm |

While I agree with most of the points this guy makes in his videos, I’d no sooner sit through an entire diatribe of his than I would one of Alex Jones’ intolerable rants. Delivery is everything, and this guys delivery simply screams ‘arrogant, egotistical DOUCHE’.
