Romney Rep. Peter King: Presidential Kill List “Totally Constitutional”

Luke Rudkowski asks NY Congressman and Romney representative, Peter King for his insight on how Mitt Romney should handle the inheritance of Obama’s kill list should he become president. Peter King touts the kill list as “totally right, totally Constitutional” as he quickly becomes angered and derogatory towards Luke.

    Note that King couldn’t just walk away.

    He had to get the last word.

    Also, extrajudicial murder only seems like a good idea until you realize that other people might keep lists too.

    Peter King says “If his kid was with him that’s the breaks”

    I was under the impression that Anwar al-Awlaki’s son was killed in a separate strike a couple of weeks after Awlaki. Seems like splitting hairs but facts matter. It’s two totally different scenarios you’re talking about if a 16 year old American was killed along with his father as some sort of collateral damage, or whether he was targeted separately. Apparently he was targeted separately.

    I’d chalk this up to Peter King trying to resolve some sort of cognitive dissonance on the fly. Adjusting the facts in order to fit some preconceived outlook on the subject. It’s almost tolerated if you accuse leadership of being incompetent but Odin forbid you accuse them of wrongdoing, as Luke did here. He’s dismissed as crazy. When in fact it’s King who is not being very rational, playing fast and loose with the facts because he just can’t deal with the reality. (Actually in some circles you’d just say King is lying through his teeth. But I’m treating his argument with the best possible case I can)

    What’s strange is that I don’t think it really matters if his son was collateral damage or not. They were both far away from any battlefield and no evidence was ever produced to show they were guilty of any crime, never mind a crime worthy of the death penalty.

    I’m not even talking about providing evidence to the public, as they’re always harping on that would endanger national security. There used to be closed judicial proceedings where this type of thing was decided. But apparently even that type of judicial oversight is no longer required. That pretty much takes us back to the darker days of civil rights before habeas corpus, long before the US Constitution even existed. That’s what, during the reign of King Edward 1st in the 1300′s? I always suspected that civil rights in the US took one step forward and two steps back, but that’s ridiculous.
