Vote Looming, National Geographic to Exhibit Dubious, Politicized bin Laden Raid Narrative

The trailer for an upcoming film on the U.S. raid that killed Osama bin Laden inaccurately represents tactics and techniques, thereby overstating pre-operational uncertainty regarding the terrorist leader’s hideout presence. While producing “Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden,” which National Geographic plans to air in the 48 hours before Election Day, Kathryn Bigelow consulted with senior White House, Defense Department and Central Intelligence Agency officials.

  1. For a few decades now I’ve watched the line between journalism and entertainment become ever blurrier.

How is this movie any different from previous generations parading down Main Street, whipping up the emotions of the crowd with Sousa marches?

I have a lot of respect for someone who has what it takes to become a SEAL.

I have no respect for a government who feels it necessary to turn war into the National Pasttime.

In totalitarian countries people were forced to watch propaganda films. In America people pay to watch propaganda films. Now that’s really freedom.

I’m getting a patriotic chubby from watching the trailer, no telling what it’s doing to the trailer trash.

Anyone else find it funny how the Benghazi narrative is evolving like the Bin Laden narrative did?  Gun, no gun, wife no wife, firefight no firefight?   This is why people have no faith in the government, too many lies.

I don’t think there’s any political agenda here by “Nat Geo,” I just think the channel/company has been off the rails for a long time and is releasing it when they are to just create views for this half-assed tv movie that fudges around the facts, such as they are.  They’re doing it for the same reason that Wolf Blitzer keep bleating about how Obama and Romney are “neck in neck” and basically treating the election as just one more dumb reality show, or a mixed-martial arts match, or any other lukewarm example of Uhmurkan culture that we are supposed to give two weak shits about.

Nat Geo is a vast wasteland of shows like:  Wicked Tuna, Border Wars/Border Security/Border Bitches, etc, Any show about UFOs (really?), Hitler’s (insert something here)…and on and on.  I’ve actually detected a real right-wing, guns-and-war-are-really-awesome programming focus for the channel since 9/11.

When Nat Geo says the Bin Laden raid was a more dangerous covert operation than say…uhm, D-Day, just for an example, you know they’ve lost their minds, their integrity, and their consciousness.
