SOPA Author Likely To Head Congress’s Science, Space, And Technology Committee

Popular Science reports on who will lead us into our bold and bright future:

Lamar Smith was not very popular with the Internet a while back. The GOP congressman from Texas sponsored the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), which, you may recall, was not well-loved by much of the Internet. He also doesn’t believe global warming is man-made.

But now Smith is being recommended by his party to chair the Science, Space, and Technology committee, and he’ll probably end up with the job. This may be slightly controversial.

  1. This guy’s a moron, plain and simple.

I fear for/pity all those on the committee who actually UNDERSTAND the scientific method, who have to deal with this goober for the next two years.

Two more years in which we NEED rational legislation to gain energy independence that is CLEAN and RENEWABLE and SAFE (which means NOT nuclear), and when we are running out of time to deal with catastrophic climate change that — HELLO — just trashed the entire Eastern Seaboard!

How the fuck can someone who has no background in Science, Space, or Technology be the chair of this committee ?
Oh, and he graduated from the “Episcopal School of Texas”. I’m not kidding.
