Friend of the DisinfoCast Garin Etcheberry went to Iran, and he’s here now to talk about the Iranian people and why starting yet another war in the Middle East is a bad idea.
in my world travels
I have generally found people to be friendly & helpful
especially if they discover I’m American
once in Lam Namtha, Laos
I got drunk with some fellow travelers
one was an Iranian who kept saying over & over
“I’m not a terrorist! I love everybody!”

Hi there, I just want to say that I listened to this podcast today and couldn’t believe how this guy Garin had nothing to say about Iran except that the people were so nice and their culture is so great. I mean, I agree, but he turned in verbal circles when you asked him to expand on the idea that the people are one thing and the govt is another. I couldn’t believe how naive this guy was. And all this thing about a being with a tourist group and a guide and it’s all normal. I was so disappointed with his lame stories. He talked and talked but said nothing except the people are so nice and the culture is so great. Honestly, he sounded like a child.
