Blockhead: ‘The Music Scene’ (Feat. Animation by Anthony Francisco Schepperd)

Yea this is epic. I’m baffled it hasn’t been posted up before

That is some transcendent art, yo. A new pinnacle has been reached. The music, while good, will be forgotten; the animation is timeless.

Did anyone else grasp any overarching metaphors? My most plausible assay proposes a Man-God-animals scenario, where God (in the form of cathode ray tubes) is not happy with animals for being incapable of appreciating His trippier vicissitudes, so he inaugurates Man; a bored Demiurge, if you will. People watching glowing rectangles is a new way of glorifying God?

Admittedly, my metaphor falters and leaves many aspects and scenes unexplained. Am I aspiring to non-existent meaning, like an overzealous Bob Dylan fan?

This is fucking terrible. Here: thats with the music it was designed and animated for. It takes ten seconds to find the original video.

I love the animation, its some beautiful stuff. But the television motifs I just find tiring. Maybe the idea needs to be illuminated multiple times to get it through the thick skulls of humans, maybe every generation needs to be told what this screen as a medium is. But I also see a concept that has been stretched thin and become a worn out trope, or maybe its the perfection of the message. But whatever the way, give me a screen and I’ll watch the artwork of hundreds of different artists.

      Alternative text:

Lewis O’Donnell: “Matt, Not sure if you’re aware, but this isn’t the music the video was designed for. I’ve found it for you.”

Matt: “Oh, cool. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll run it here.”

      I’ve fixed it.

      • Lewis O’Donnell

Thanks. I’ll watch out for my indignation next time!

LOL! Believe you me, I have my moments, too.

I thought of the feelies from Brave New World by Aldous Huxley while watching this.

This is fucking amazing and thanks for “turning me on” to it. I love this kind of rapidly mutating hyper-color imagery, because it’s exactly the kind of shit I see when I take psychedelics (or when I meditate on weed I might add).
