Chinese Man Who Stabbed 23 Children Was Inspired By Mayan Doomsday Rumors, Authorities Claim

Is the possibility of a looming apocalypse causing people to lose it in horrific fashion? Via the Christian Science Monitor:

Chinese police said that they suspect that the man who stabbed 23 children in a rural Chinese elementary school just hours before the Newtown, Conn., massacre “injured innocent people and children with a knife because he was influenced by doomsday rumors.” None of the wounded children died of their injuries.

The knifing spree is the darkest manifestation yet of how end-of-the-world rumors have taken hold in China. Chinese are susceptible to doomsday reports, suggests social psychologist Wei Zhizhong, because “scientific knowledge is still not widespread in China. People have abandoned their traditional mystical relationship with nature, but they are still exploring scientific ways of coexisting” with the natural world.

What a horrible tragedy. We need to ban all guns so this doesn’t happen again. Oh wait, what’s that? He used a knife? I guess china need stricter knife laws then…

    • Yeah you’re totally right, except if guns were easy to access in China, it would be a troubled boy instead of an insane man, and 23 dead instead of 23 wounded.

We need to teach these idiots that the Mayan gods favored self-mutilation of the genitals with a stingray spine up the urethra even more than child sacrifice.

    sounds pretty sketchy to me
I’ve met only one person in China who even had a hint of the 2012 thing
and he had lived in the West, spoke English and was hip to Western culture
could it be that “authorities” are grasping at straws
when it comes to explanations for mass homicidal behavior?

how come no one notices that these mass homicidal actions
are exactly like the actions of the US military?
random acts of mass violence directed by insane thoughts

    • The thing I found most pertinent about this regardless of the publicised motives, was that two men on opposite ends of the earth to each other decided apparently to murder a schoolroom full of children on the same day. Apparently with no contact between each other beforehand?
