Anarchists Commemorated Inauguration By Smashing Bank Windows And ATM

The proper way to ring in Barack Obama’s second term. Via Politico:

About 60 anarchists smashed windows and damaged an ATM machine overnight just blocks from the National Mall, police [said] Monday.

At about midnight Sunday night, a group moving through the Gallery Place/Chinatown/Mt. Vernon Square area of Washington, D.C., broke a window and splashed yellow paint on a TD Bank branch, smashed a window at a Hooters restaurant and broke the screen of an ATM machine belonging to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Credit Union.

The damage took place at sites about 7 to 9 blocks from the mall, where hundreds of thousands of people gathered later Monday for the re-inauguration of President Barack Obama. The group dropped flyers saying, “Against Every Cop. Against Every Boss. Against Every President,” the report said.

Perhaps I’m making some assumptions about their style of anarchism, but shouldn’t anarchists be supporters of credit unions?

I don’t buy this. I’m an Anarchist and have been for 20 years and I have never met another Anarchist stupid enough to break a window in protest.

Where are these pockets of idiot’s that were smart enough to discover the anarchist philosophy but too dumb to understand how counter productive smashing a window is?

And why do they never hang out or communicate with all the other Anarchists hat would tell them to stop being such idiots?

In my experience, almost every time there are reports of “Anarchists” breaking things or starting trouble at protests. It turns out that they were almost certainly undercover police provocateurs.

Middle America is only too willing to buy into the notion that bomb throwing anarchists celebrated the inauguration of that socialist/muslim/communist/nazi/atheist/satanist Obama by breaking shit.

It’s called a diversity of tactics. Aside from the morally consistent anarchist principle of _not_ judging the recourse to action your fellow oppressed individual may take–because you simply can’t know her/his own conditions of suffering; there are several strategic reasons for not passing open judgment about such action.
