Obama Supporters Don’t Know Obama

On January 21, 2013 WeAreChange went to Washington DC for Barack Obama’s  second Presidential Inauguration. While we were there we hosted a quiz show where we offered $100 to anyone who could correctly answer 3 out of 5 questions about the man they were there supporting. This was an opportunity for us to possibly educate some people on things his administration has done that they were most likely unaware of. Unfortunately, most people were more concerned about the money than some of the things they learned about their President.

  1. It really was genius for the Oligarchy to put him in office. I mean just look at this awkward moment here. Young white Kid, Old black guy. Its really hard to have any credibility when criticizing the First Black President. And on the Face of it, Luke’s upset his guy didn’t get in, who was basically an Old, White Republican Dude.

The Special effects don’t look fake enough yet for most viewers of Political theater.

One should not stop at the Face of it when looking for the truth, and especially when commenting on what that truth might be.

      • Well, to be clear, I’m not implying Luke is against Obama due to racial prejudice or that he supported Ron Paul simply because he is white. I am simply stating the awkwardness of this video given the demographics. To me it looks like some young white people arguing with some black people about Obama.

The deeper issue is civil liberties. But because Obama is the first black president it appears to be a hard sell. That’s my impression. What I am saying is, Obama is the perfect figurehead for the Powers that be. Getting him elected was a work of strategic brilliance. He is a shield to criticism par excellence.

Okay. I see your point now. Thanks for the clarification.

          • No problem. This illustrates the genius of this misderection. Under Bush, the face of the establishment was a grey haired white dude from a rich dynastic political family. He acted like a cowboy.

Now the face of the establishment is a younger looking handsome black man, who has insinuated himself, by association, into the Legacy of MLK. Meanwhile the policies of the Plutocratic Oligarchy/Police State become steadily more repressive, exploitative and Draconian. To quote Noam Chomsky, the basic program of ” repression at home, exploitation abroad” etc. continues on uninterupted. If anything these policies have picked up speed.

not that i deserve a gold star or anything, but i thought i’d mention that i liked both your comments on this thread. they were insightful, clear and complete, with a keen eye for the racial context of politics. nice.

Well, this is the last straw for me. The anti-Obama stuff that keeps getting piled on here shows a clear anti-Obama bias. The thing the Obama-Haters don’t understand that while he’s not a living saint, he is actually the best hope we have of getting America back on the rails. I definitely expect Disinfo.com to post stuff about the next President, who will most likely be a Republican. I won’t know, since I’m done with this website.
I’d turn the light off as I leave, but the lights are already out.

    • This is a user driven website. You can be a contributor. I’m pretty sure the editor, Matt Staggs appreciates debate.

There is a little box in the upper right corner of every Disinfo webpage.
      Says “Google Custom Search.”
If you use it properly, you can see the articles that got piled on Disinfo.com that have a clear anti-Bush bias. If you do that, you may discover that Disinfo.com is a non-partisan information source.

That might clear up a bit of the cognitive dissonance you are experiencing.
      Sleep well.

    • How is this anti Obama? If the truth hurts…

    • Election is over, why the hell would you give Obama a free ride. Now is the time to keep on him, make his political life hell, ride him and ride him and ride him some more, don’t let those propagandists right his history, make him and his family suck up the truth of what he is doing.

When are you people going to realise the commander in chief is not the president, it is the voting public and just because the election is over does not mean the electorate should hand over the reigns.

He ain’t no one super special, he is just another elected official, you want him accountable than make him accountable.

      You’ll be missed.

  3. The NDAA gets passed every year, BTW.

    • Kevin Leonard | Jan 27, 2013 at 2:24 pm |

The provision for indefinite detention of American citizens was added and signed on Obama’s watch, BTW.

      • Right, but you shouldn’t just say NDAA, because the “National Defense Authorization Act” is a perennial bill. You must be more specific.

I agree that precision with language is incredibly important.

But in defense of WeAreChange.org, in this example,
at least in this sample, it wouldn’t have mattered much.

  4. Thanks for posting this, for it has made it very clear how much of the fine details I am unaware of. Not to say I wasn’t already aware, just that I need to know more. Keep up the good work!

There’s actually been seven countries where drone strikes have taken place since Obama became
president. You guys forgot the Philippines. In February 2012, a U.S. drone strike killed 15 suspected militants in the Philippines.
