Saudi Arabian Cleric Calls For Babies To Wear Burqas

I suppose the idea is that we are born sinners. The Telegraph reports:

A Saudi cleric’s declaration that babies should wear burkas to protect them from sexual attacks has drawn widespread criticism.

Sheikh Abdullah Daoud said all female newborns should wear a full face veil in an interview with an Islamic television station. He told al-Majd TV that wearing a burka would stop incidents of sexual attacks on babies, and tried to support his claim by quoting unnamed medical and security sources.

Sheikh Mohammad al-Jzlana, a former judge at the Saudi Board of Grievances, urged Muslims to ignore “unregulated” fatwas and said the ruling was “denigrating to Islam and Shariah and made Islam look bad”.

If babies needs burgas in Saudi Arabia, then something is wrong with the people in the Arab world. Do these clerics know something “we”, non-Moslems, don’t know?
And won’t babies suffocate in those things?

i didn’t know saudi arabia was the epicenter of arab culture and the example by which all arabs follow. neither did i know that a declaration from a sole cleric out of hundreds of millions of muslims exemplified islam and muslim practice.

      silly me.

it’s about the same as thinking one of the reichwing x’tian crazies from the 700 club speaks for all americans.

Anything to stop sexual assaults on babies. They should infibulate at birth too.

Why didn’t Catholic priests think of this first?!

“I want to fuck your baby, so you should keep it in a burlap sack so I’ll be less tempted.”

Perhaps the church has had to cope with too many fetishes involving sackcloth.

& the haircloth becometh barbedwire….ahhh the holy sexual magik of transubstantiation.

[interestingly the wiki page on Cilice says not to be confused w/ Cialis methinks somebody has a wicked sense of humor]

Oh, that didn’t occur to me. Priests may find burlap erotic and it could increase the problem.

I guess if I have kids I’ll disguise them as small elderly people.

I wonder what kind of developmental problems will arise from babies being carried around in sacks?
Maybe it’ll be something like this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083624/
