Breaking News: Riot Underway in Brooklyn

Reports are coming in via social media that a riot is underway in Brooklyn, NY. While details are sketchy at present, according to RT the rioters are protesting the fatal police shooting of Kimani Gray, a sixteen year-old African American boy. The shooting occurred Saturday.

For the moment, mainstream news is asleep at the wheel. Disinfo readers interested in the story may be better off monitoring Twitter for the hashtag #brooklynriot. There’s also a Ustream account sharing some video from the scene, but there’s not a whole lot to see at the time of this writing.

Deep inside some undisclosed bunker, John Brennan is drinking a puppy’s blood in celebration.

why? does he not like baby blood?
But then again, it is an acquired taste.

I make it a habit to stay away from riots.

When violence is necessary, I’m completely comfortable perpetrating it all on my own.

Other then letting people who are not in the know in on things, what good does rioting do? That’s an honest question I have wrestled with for a long time. With the mainstream media filtering things, the people that really need to know may likely get to know the opposite of what is needed to be known.

I hope something forwarding comes of this.

The message of a riot is that there are a lot of people who are REALLY pissed off with the subtext being “the next one may burn down your property”.

blah… I mostly repeated myself. And I want to make it clear that the abuse of power by the authorities is sickening. I’ve experienced it firsthand.

For a young person to be shot and killed is gross abuse of power and sheer stupidity.

        It’s all just awful

I hope no innocents get looted.

It certainly is awful. Burning, looting, destruction, violence… tragedy.

The thing is, when people are stomped on long enough, they lash out. The elites of most societies understand this, and so they establish social mechanisms to lessen the suffering of the most vulnerable. The elites do this mainly out of self-preservation, because they know they are outnumbered by the masses.

But sometimes the elites forget. And when they do, it doesn’t help to simply remind them. Nothing less than rioting, lynching, and eventually mass executions of elites will get their attention.

Protests used to be called “demonstrations”, back when they actually had power. This is what they were demonstrating. We can only hope for the elites to come to their senses before it comes to rivers of blood in the streets.

There must be a way that is forwarding without the inclusion of violence and destruction.

Yeah, the problem with rioting is pretty similar to the problem with terrorism. Neither wins in the long run, and public opinion (which, make no mistake about it, is the most powerful agent of change) actually turns against the cause, whether it’s righteous or not. Both approaches are shortsighted and more often than not the only people who get hurt had nothing to do with the initial injustice in the first place.

Most of the twitterfeed consists of people complaining about the hashtag inciting, or at least framing, an event before it happens.

Exhausting night, but very meaningful. I attended a vigil of #KimaniGray at 7PM. 2nd person murdered recently by Precinct 67 (Shantel Davis being the other victim). Around 8:20 a march broke out in the streets, about 250 mostly youth. As MLK once said: “Riot is Language of the Unheard.”

The entire district is on lockdown, with cops from Precinct 68,69, and 70 coming over in riot gear. Cops are checking for fingerprints in CVS and elsewhere.

I did not per say approve of everything that happened, but it was very genuine and certainly sparking another long needed conversation about NYPD brutality. When speaking with the media, we must be careful not to incriminate ourselves, and make sure the story is contextualized properly. Our job is to keep the media, and NYPD in check. There will be a vigil everyday for 7 days, come join us 7PM at 52nd Street and Church Avenue.
