Uruguayan Scientists Create Healthy Glow-In-The-Dark Sheep

It has been announced that nine sheep born this past October at Uruguay’s Institute of Animal Reproduction have been developing normally and living contentedly. The sheep were genetically engineered to contain a gene from a jellyfish which spurs the production of green fluorescent protein, a modification which will no doubt soon become common among designer house pets:

These sheep will eventually all be driven mad for lack of sleep. Imagine the horror of roaming bands of savage insomniac killer sheep haunting the countryside.

    I shudder.

The ones we hear about are the relatively innocuous experiments. Imagine what’s in the DUMBs like Dulce. Probably give us nightmares. :(

Green *fluorescent* protein does not equal “glow in the dark”. You would need something akin to a blacklight to make them glow. Fluorescence != luminescence.

They’d be a hit at raves, if you could somehow prevent them from shitting everywhere.

See, over there, making it easier for the wolves to feed on the sheep is literal…in America it is only figurative of our government.

So, Uruguay, how’d you acquire top notch geneticists? Any of em speak german, or are these 2nd generation?

    • Juan

This comment strikes me as totally racist. Actually, racist is not even the right word, since Uruaguay is mostly populated by people of European descent. Still, idea that the locals could not have done this on their own seems to me, for lack of better word “racist.”

      • InfvoCuernos

Actually, I was referring to the fact that a lot of German geneticists escaped to South America after WWII, and Uruguay is in South America, but take it however you want.
