Troubling news for the parents among us: Toys and other children’s products contain low levels of a wide range of “chemicals of concern”:

Via Scientific American:

Cobalt in plastic building blocks and baby bibs. Ethylene glycol in dolls. Methyl ethyl ketone in clothing. Antimony in high chairs and booster seats. Parabens in baby wipes. D4 in baby creams.

An Environmental Health News analysis of thousands of reports from America’s largest companies shows that toys and other children’s products contain low levels of dozens of industrial chemicals, including some unexpected ingredients that will surprise a public concerned about exposure.

Pacific Standard on the ‘Mystery of John Titor’

Picture: John Titor’s military patch.

The John Titor story is one of my favorite modern myths: A time traveler from a war-torn future Earth visits the past to collect a few needed computer parts. Along the way, he offers a countdown of harrowing future events that will lead to the dystopian United States that he calls home, always with the caveat that these things may not happen in this particular timeline. Titor disappeared as mysteriously as he appeared, and to this day, some corners of the internet continue to debate who he was.

Via Pacific Standard:

This is our planet’s bleak future: a second Civil War splinters America into five factions, leaving the new capital based in Omaha. World War III breaks out in 2015, starting with Russia and the U.S. trading nukes and ending with three billion dead. Then, to top it all off, a computer bug delivers where Y2K sputtered, destroying our world as we know it.

Adam Kokesh Planning Armed March in Washington, DC

Adam vs. The Man host Adam Kokesh is planning a daring – and some might say foolhardy – demonstration against what he identifies as Government tyranny. On July 4, Kokesh, along with whatever participants choose to join him, will march on Washington, DC with loaded rifles slung across their back.

On the morning of July 4, 2013, Independence Day, we will muster at the National Cemetery & at noon we will step off to march across the Memorial Bridge, down Independence Avenue, around the Capitol, the Supreme Court, & the White House, then peacefully return to Virginia across the Memorial Bridge. This is an act of civil disobedience, not a permitted event. We will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny. We are marching to mark the high water mark of government & to turn the tide.

Gunplay Reflects on “The Original Bilderberg Group”

Gunplay-mugshot.jpgHip Hop artist Gunplay, a/k/a Don Logan, has penned a short essay about the Bilderberg Group for Pigeons & Planes:

As I am intrigued by the well-established Bilderberg Group, allow me to expand briefly. The profound group originated at Hotel de Bilderberg in Oosterbeek, Netherlands from May 29th-31st in 1954 where they “debated the future of the world.” Its organizational structure consists of the world’s richest, most powerful leaders, including multi-functional corporations such as directors of large businesses, bankers and top politicians. Daniel Estulin described the group in his Internet article as such: “who’s who of world power elites.” No individual can buy their way into the powerful group, but is invited by the Bilderberg Committee and must be adherents to the One World Order governance run by the world’s top elites.

The Bilderberg group meets yearly in various locations of the world where the participants discuss the world’s future.

The Conspiracy Theorist Glossary

300806jfkIf you’ve ever scoffed when someone told you that JFK’s second gunman destroyed the World Trade Center with assistance from reptilian extraterrestrials as part of a plan hatched at Bohemian Grove to corner the gold market before the return of Planet X, you’ve probably found yourself subject to a bevy of indicting catch phrases machine gunned at you so fast your head spun.

To help decode the buzzwords that form the conspiracy theorist lexicon, the Skeptic Project developed a handy glossary. Here are some highlights:

Awake: the opposite of “asleep.” Essentially, the condition of believing in conspiracy theories and not believing (supposedly) any government or “mainstream media” source. CT’ers employ numerous variations on the “asleep”/”awake” concept, such as “I woke up,” “You’re asleep,” “Why did you go back to sleep?”, “When I was asleep I believed…”, “We’re trying to wake people up!”, “A lot of people are waking up,” etc., etc.
