This is a topic near and dear to my heart. I was pretty much a nerd growing up. But I did spend a lot of time outdoors. I knew I had a physical side to me but wasn’t sure how to channel it. I was diagnosed with learning disabilities and co-ordination problems early on and wanted to play sports to spite that. I went into so many sports with zero confidence though. Soccer was a disaster, baseball was a disaster. swimming was a disaster. Football was a semi-disaster. I actually did get to start the first game of my junior year the first year I played after hitting really hard in practice. But I kept jumping off sides, and the coach got pissed and never let me play much again. It destroyed my confidence. I think maybe I could have played more but I was just crushed after that. I think I take setbacks really hard. I had some success with wrestling, but later in life now, I find myself wanting to challenge myself physically. I don’t feel I achieved my potential. I feel the need to compete again in some sport.

So I think it was a really good point about improving weaknesses and seeing everything as a challenge, as the essence of the Warrior ethos. Some things come hard to me but some things come fairly easy. I spend a lot of time despairing about why certain things come harder to me than others, instead of just working though it. Pressfield is awesome in the regard. I got a nature writing article published in a travel magizine, due mostly to reading that book. It made all the difference in the world.

    So anyway Inspiring talk.

I really want one of the maces they sell. Have to finish my enter the kettlebell cycle before I let myself get one though.
