PBS: Independent Lens: ‘Seeking Asian Female’

Debbie Lum’s ‘Seeking Asian Female’ follows the surprising romance of Steven and Sandy — an aging white man obsessed with marrying any Asian woman and the young Chinese bride he finds on the internet. Debbie, a Chinese American filmmaker, documents and narrates with healthy doses of humor and reflection, from the early stages of Steven’s search for an Asian bride, through the moment Sandy sets foot in America for the first time, to a year into their precarious union. Global migration, Chinese-American relations and the perennial battle of the sexes, weigh in on the fate of marriage in this eccentric love story.

it’s an interesting phenomenon I’ve noticed in Asia
but it’s far easier to rent these girls than to marry them
but for a guy like Steven, it could be a win-win
since he’s obviously not going to get an American woman
whereas, he’s quite attractive to those girls looking to emigrate & upgrade
which is part of the Asia Dream

    it’s actually a huge con-bizmess in China
where young girls looking for Mr. White
are charged thousands of dollars by a matchmaking agency to hook them up

lol, I would imagine that there’s many levels of criminality in such a trade.

The neotonous nature of the specific object sought after is reminiscent of pedophilia, but excusable because women with small vaginas and more child-like features are acceptable objects of attraction as long as their age-number correlates with established litigious paradigms.

Asians tend to think differently about things
and in this case it fits their model of reciprocity & family well
        reciprocity in the sense that
the Asian woman is looking for an economic upgrade &
        life in developed whirled
a guy like Steven couldn’t score in Ferrari in the US
        (OK, maybe a Ferrari)
she trades her body and TLC for the ride
        it serves the family
she has always been supporting Mom & Dad since her first job
and this will greatly help, add face to the family
and possibly a ticket out of what they think of as Hell

as to the pedophilia and all that
most of the pedophiles in Asia are Westerners
        nothing good about that
        that eye can see
