Maddow: ‘Something Weird Is Going on’ in FBI Shooting of Ibragim Todashev

On Thursday night’s edition of “The Rachel Maddow Show,” host Rachel Maddow discussed the swirl of questions around the shooting of Ibragim Todashev, an associate of Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the two men charged with the bombing of the Boston Marathon.

FBI officials have given conflicting accounts of the questioning and killing of Todashev, who knew Tamerlan Tsarnaev through Mixed Martial Arts fighting. Todashev, who, like the Tsarnaevs, was Chechen, lived in Boston for a time before moving to Florida. Agents from the FBI traveled to Florida to question Todashev repeatedly about the bombing.

“Last week while being questioned again in Florida,” said Maddow, “something went very, very wrong and he ended up dead.”

Law enforcement officials were interviewing Todashev in his apartment in Orlando on Wednesday, May 22, when something occurred that resulted in the young man being shot multiple times.

On Thursday, Todashev’s family held a press conference in Moscow, where they showed autopsie photos of their slain son. Ibragim Todashev was shot six times in the torso and once in the back of the head.

“We have not been able to authenticate these photos,” said Maddow. “No one has.”

But, she said, if they are genuine, “something weird is going on.”

“How does that comport with the FBI’s story that he was killed during questioning by armed agents who were only acting in self defense?” she asked. “Shot seven times, including in the back of the head?”

If there was a bullet hole in the back of the head then there was definitely something untoward going on.

Maybe he was trying a leaping reverse head butt and accidentally impacted the FBI agent’s gun causing it to discharge?

If there was a bullet hole in the back of the head
      it’s definably the FBI
the CIA always uses suicide as it’s cover
like when Gary Webb shot himself in the head

      • Neat trick shooting yourself in the head twice. Guy musta really wanted to be dead.

Just like Kurt. Courtney did it. WE ALL KNOW!

          • Two gunshots to the head for Kurt as well? I had no idea.

          • Only one shotgun blast.

You ever watch that Daily Show episode where Jon Stewart interviews David Grohl and Grohl says his favorite thing in the world is skeet shooting and he’s miming blowing stuff out of the sky with a shotgun-the look of panic on Stewart’s face was priceless! This was after Kurt died.

I wasn’t sure Boston was a shadow government conspiracy until I heard about this. Not that it changes anything. Poor guy.

Yeah Rachel, this is the only weird issue with the whole BMB narrative/official story. Way to dig deep!

    • Come on, it’s pretty amazing she even brought it up at all. Not that it matters or that anything will come of it.

have you read the letter from the CIA guy
who was imprisoned for bowing the whistle on GITMO torture?

    >Meanwhile, the Italians have taken a liking to me because I’m patriotic, as they are, and I have a visceral dislike of the FBI, which they do as well.

even the CIA thinks the FBI is crooked

  5. Yeah, this and the two FBI agents involved in the investigation that “fell” out of a helicopter kinda looks a bit funny.
There’s a whole buncha other stuff as well that points to some kind of a gubmit job. The thing has been a serious clusterfuck.

  6. We need to launch in immediate investigation into why our nation’s law enforcement agents are not being trained to concoct more convincing cover stories.

I feel like I am trapped in a web of lies and deceit

  8. Why aren’t these interrogations videorecorded?

    • emperorreagan | Jun 6, 2013 at 11:16 am |

Because it’s FBI policy not to video tape interrogations…the only record is supposed to be a typewritten report from the agent.

If one were cynical, one would say it’s precisely so they can do things like this, make shit up and accuse you of perjury in court, otherwise abuse & intimidate people, etc.
