Italian investigators have opened an inquiry into claims by a convicted paedophile priest that an underage prostitution ring has been operating inside the Holy Roman Church with clergymen hiring rentboys for sex inside churches.

Don Patrizio Poggi, 46, told Italian authorities that a former Carabinieri pimped boys for nine clergymen.

Poggi, who served a five-year sentence for abusing teenage boys while he was a parish priest at the San Filippo Neri church in Rome, said he made the allegations to “protect the Holy Church and the Christian community.”

The boys were chosen because they were starving and desperate, he claimed, according to Il Messaggero newspaper.

The former policeman used to recruit the boys, mostly eastern European immigrants, outside a gay bar named Twink near Rome’s Termini train station. He reportedly sat in his Fiat Panda – marked “Emergency Blood” to avoid parking fines – to make his selection.

He was helped in the recruitment process by a friend who ran a modelling agency. He lured underage boys into prostitution through “false work offers for modelling and acting roles”, Poggi said.

The agent also looked for rentboys at gay discos, saunas and gyms across Rome. An accountant was also said to be involved.

The boys were paid €150-€500 (£130-£425) to perform sex acts in church premises across the capital.

Poggi also accused the former Carabinieri of selling consecrated hosts for “satanic rites”.

Poggi reportedly presented documentary and photographic evidence to police in the company of two senior Vatican clergymen who vouched for his credibility.

Poggi identified the nine clergymen, including two senior church officials and a religion lecturer. Three people have been placed under formal investigation.

The allegations were rejected by the Vatican. Cardinal Agostino Vallini, head of the Catholic Vicariate of Rome, said the priest made false claims out of a desire for vengeance and personal resentment.

The Vatican refused to reinstate Poggi after he served his term.

“The cardinal expresses his full confidence in the magistracy and declares himself full convinced that this slander will be demolished, demonstrating Poggi’s claims to be untrue,” Vallini said.

“God will hold everyone accountable for their deeds.”

c’mon, you find this shocking? I wouldn’t even doubt the “satanism” claim as indulging in some inverse christianity(such as the black mass of old) allows for a powerful psychological(and energetic for the more spiritually inclined) release of tension, especially for people whose whole existence is built around piousness…

my question is… Are there any straight crooked bishops?

      • Juan

        Irony alert!!

        • Adamas Macalz

what’s the Irony? are you talking about me being a satanist in the past? I was never that kind of satanist lol… Inversion of Christianity is usually used by recovering christians for deprogramming and release of traumatic beliefs… I just settled for “saying fuck you to god” stage

          • Juan

            My original comment was ironic.
We know that there is no shortage of various kinds of creeps inhabiting the RCC.
I had no idea you were a Satanist.

          • Adamas Macalz

I think I got you mixed up with another disinfonaut, my bad

          • Maribond Hounsell

I can see that inverted Christianity, childish though it may be, is useful to recovering xtians. But “deprogramming” doesn’t go deep enough to explain why Christianity gains such a hold on a person. The faith is able to capture the human psyche by, for example, promising total acceptance through forgiveness, granting you access to an extended family away from the claustrophobia of the nuclear family, and initiating the novice into a mystery school with its rites, its secrets and its privileges, thereby granting absolution from alienation and despair.

These are all good things. Why would you throw them away?

          • Adamas Macalz

Because sometime the answers you seek are found in that particular paradigm… and when done incorrectly(as in my case and many others) you have indoctrination in place of answers and fear of leaving in place of love of god… going off jungian psychology I had no room for individuation in my religion… besides I prefer esoteric to exoteric models and find much more solice in the “science behind religious experiences” and trial and error first hand experience to blind repetition of beliefs

          • jnana

I think martin Haynes may have been describing a more esoteric Christianity, which has nothing to do w/ indoctrination or fear of leaving. remember, not all xianities are the same.
also, you claim yer more interested in esotericism yet you “find more solace” in the “science behind religious experiences”. that is oxymoronic, if you are at all familiar w/ Jungian typology. science is an exoteric, extraverted pursuit. i’m not sure if it will ever confirm the subjective experiences of the mystic and I doubt the mystic would care.

          • Adamas Macalz

I’m talking about trance states and altered states of consciosness, outside of the religious background… basically what I’m aiming for is self induced religious experiences and the states of existences peculiar to certain rypes of ritual… that in no way conficts with my more esoteric studies and practices…
and no I don’t think all christians are the same… I’m quite fond of the gnostics

The Church of Rome Corrupt? UNPOSSIBLE!

  • Samuel G. Saikaley

The actual operation of the RCC should be ridiculously apparent to people by now, Duh there are satanists in the church. The church is Lucifarian, I have a hard time believing any of the higher ranking clergy are ignorant to that. I have a hard time stomaching most of the denominations that deviated from them aswell. The term Christian itself bugs me; Its supposed to be a religion centered around a jewish man whose disciples wrote of him in greek and who we now know by a romanized title. If you’re a fan of the esoteric and the otherwise hidden then cracking Christianity should intrigue the shit out of you. The very hands that drafted the text from a selection of hebrew scripture and contemporary writings into the Holy Bible picked it apart and obfuscated everything they could. It was then translated into the invented language of their intellectual elite and people where imprisoned and executed simply for attempting to translate it into their native tongues. Even the story of “christ” read at face value holds the moral : Religious Institutions = BAD

    • kowalityjesus

you’re right, but to me there is enough reason to not be cynical, which I cannot entirely tangibly express. The words of Jesus shine through, not matter how many times they have been fobbed.

  • Haystack

I’ve heard that there might be Christianity there, too, but I’m skeptical.

  • kowalityjesus

das ist schlecht. not that I am not sure that there is some degree of truth to this matter, but how are we to know that he is not just exaggerating shit. At the end of the day we each stand before God alone and naked.
