Commit a Sex Crime in Ohio? You Could Face the Death Penalty.

CastroArrivesIf you are found guilty of a sex crime in the state of Ohio you could face the death penalty if State Representative John Becker (R-Union Township) has his way. He has introduced House Bill 244, legislation that provides prosecutors with the option of pursuing the death penalty for certain sex-related crimes.

“In light of the Ariel Castro kidnapping case of three young women in Cleveland, I wanted to give prosecutors the option to pursue the death penalty for repeat sexual offenders,” Rep. Becker said.

The crimes in the legislation include aggravated rape, aggravated rape of a child, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sexual battery of a child, and aggravated unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

      not really an insult
to the most murderous nation on earth

we are the third most murderous nation on earth.

          starting with the American Indians
          moving on to Mexicans
          while lynching slaves
          then the Spanish Cubans
then came WW I & II
          Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan
          plus our weapons widely distributed
it’s hard to imagine any kuntery
          could top our murderous ways

discount all war, as war is death and every country, society and civilization is guilty of that act. the new and old Russian empires were responsible for some 80-100 million deaths of their own people, and the Chinese communist empire is responsible for 65-80 million deaths of their own people (these numbers estimated by Chinese officials). even after all of your bullet points, the U.S. comes up third, and discounting war, is far to the bottom.

          • BuzzCoastin

to be the most murderous kuntery on earth
            you need to count wars
only Rome may have out done Der Homeland

FYI: Russia’s population hasn’t been above 120 million
since the beginning of the last century
and China has never officially commented
            on deaths due to Mao

          • marshall

Russia’s population hasn’t been above 120 million in the past three hundred years, because the ruling elite killed too many of its own through controlled famine and outright execution. Officially no, but statements have been made by Chinese Minitruth personnel. They never officially commented due to potential retribution from the western totalitarian treaty organizations. But seriously, war shouldn’t be counted, because that isn’t murder per say, it is just war…all’s fair in war.

You seem to leave out the fact that the US did NOT want to join in World War II. We stayed out of it until we were attacked by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor. Basically, it was simply self-defense. Had it not been for Pearl Harbor, we would have not engaged the Japanese and had no reason to hit Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Basically, not murder. If you pick a fight with the toughest kid in school; is it HIS fault that he kicks your ass?

Not true. America was much more Britain friendly and anti Hitler. This is evidenced by the Lend Lease Act and the number of Americans that went to Canada to fight against Germany. While there was a strong voice for America to stay out of the conflict, led by people like Henry Ford, America was helping Britain in several ways already.

A little knowledge is so much better than showing your ignorance.

America is certainly up there, but I think Great Britain has murdered the most in total.

where do you draw the line?
because each new colonial power outdoes the preceding
            but since WW I
which occurred at the end of the “American Indian Wars”
the US has a lock on most killed & most maimed
as evidenced by their disproportionate spending
            on “defense”

Which fore-fathers would those be? My Great-Grandfather came over on the boat from Hungary. I am an American. My family has NEVER owned a slave, and have ZERO ties with the Colonial Colonies. Since arriving in this Country my entire family has fought PROUDLY for our Freedoms. What have YOU done, other than sit back, smoke a joint, play anti-war hippie, and take advantage of those Freedoms WE have provided you?

Your job should be to get off the welfare check, and your knees, neither is appealing.

          • BuzzCoastin

if you fought for Uncle Homeland

          • Rick Fader

Why di you want to know? Can’t “label” me as a baby killer, terrorist, or war monger without knowing? Let me guess, you have a Liberal Arts Degree in basket weaving so you could make sure you would not be drafted, you are a big advocate for smoking dope on the job, no matter who you kill, you are for gay rights, unless it is a conservative congressman trying to get laid in an airport bathroom instead of the local gay bar, and you are all for killing babies as long as it is in a back room Dr.’s office instead of accidentally in a war as the enemy uses them as a shield.

          • echar

I thought the whole heroic fight for freedoms schtick was a lie they taught the cannon fodder. So that they would near ZERO oportunity to think about their actions, which are more likely to ensure the freedom of very rich to amass large quantities of money, beyond the large portion of American taxxx dollars that go into defense. All so that they can turn around and use thier resources to limit the freedoms of the people YOU have been douped into believing, PROUDLY to fight for. NEVERmind, I am going to smoke a joint and wonder more about freedom.

          • Rick Fader

Well then, since you do not have the sack to fight for your freedoms, you do not deserve them. So when they come for you for smoking tour joint, and then take all of your freedoms away for it, just take splice in the fact that Bubba is packing your shitter because YOU took your freedom for granted and never bothered to learn the price paid for it. And don’t expect US to come running to your defense. YOU and your kind ALLOWED the Supreme Court to rule in favor of the “police” to not be required to protect you, and ALLOWED the government to take away your freedoms on a whim. Enjoy your joint, and enjoy when you end up IN the joint.

A couple of cliches you likely swallowed without question. Also prison rape is a myth. Men use their asses like currency inside, or just crack and say what the fuck. Speaking of which, capt. Freedom. You did a great job ensuring our freedom, what with all the prisons with all the non violent people inside.

I didn’t bother to read the rest of your self important thought viruses. Go fuck yourself, that’s an order.

          • Andrew

Downvote for denial of prison rape.

          • echar

Alright, it’s rare. You got me there.

          • Rick Fader

First off, I fought for MY Freedom, and as such I am free to not take orders from fucktards like you. Secondly, I know intelligence is beyond you, but I will attempt to shed some light into your empty skull. The Military has NOTHING to do with anybody being in prisons. However, the eye should be pointed in the right direction. Those that are responsible for “non-violent” offenders being in jails, are the LIBERAL DEMOCRATS. The F.O.P.is not a Republican organization. It is, in fact, a LIBERAL UNION. Blame your own kind for putting THEIR OWN in prisons.

          • Andrew

Downvote for approval of prison rape.

          • echar

I agree, it bothers me that my tax dollars goes to so much evil stuff.

          • Rick Fader

What are you smoking? Spending on “defense” is NOT an offensive act. If I spend twice as much on guns to protect my family as you do; does that suddenly make me a murderer? Get off the crack pipe.

          • BuzzCoastin

when you spend over 100% of your income on “defense”
you’re a nut job or Uncle Homeland

the pilgrims and the conquistadors columns killed more innocent people that Stalin and Hitler combined… the mass killing in innocent people in a matter of seconds ever recorded in history was also America. Nagasaki Hiroshima. Since 1945 the US has attempted to over throw over more than 50 foreign governments in the processes the US has ended the lives of millions and condemned millions more to a life of agony and despair

          • marshall

there is no question that the U.S. has killed, but its own people? that is the real tragedy. the aforementioned countries where the most rampant murderers, not killers in campaigns, in the history of the world.

          • marshall

innocent people? there are no innocent people in war. the bomb was a tragedy and should have never been made, but dont start to blather over a people who fervently supported militaristic imperialism. even we in the U.S. deserve whats coming if we dont wake up.

Your a scary f*ck then…makes me wonder why you are so against justice for child molesters…have a personal issue you are dealing with? Obviously….

          • marshall

please reference what i said, because i said nothing that even remotely sides with child molesters. i stated that child molesters should get the death penalty.

            Civilization is a myth.

And out of that myth we got the idea of being civilized. So not an altogether useless myth.

          • Andrew

“Being civilized” is what people in denial call being in denial.

    • Hamsa Rosenberg

So if your mother and cousin were raped, and tortured, and the only way to save them (ie future victims too), and end 10 years of this torture and brutal rape (pregnancy is brutal when by rape), was to shoot the kidnappers…you would just run screaming like a little girl, leaving them abandoned? WOW, that is absolutely nuts. Please DO NOT have children, for their sake. You sound like you have a screw loose…not to mention, who the hell implied we were civilized in the first place…lolol. You’re a bit dim.

  • Jiro M. Trismegistus

no civilized nation gives a child molester probation as a punishment/rehabilitation which happens.
I say let the victims take care of their sentencing. Either that or honestly commit serious resources to rehabilitation and studying the brains of the truly mentally ill instead of throwing them in jail or putting them on some med cocktail and forgetting about them until the next horror.

  • http://wildernessvagabonds.com/ Mike Lewinski

I wonder if advocates for this law would still advocate it if it means fewer total rape convictions?

The Supreme Court struck down death penalty for the crime of rape in Coker v. Georgia.

“Throughout the Coker brief, Ginsburg argued that unduly severe penalties for rape, like the death penalty, not only reflected persistent racial and gender stereotypes but also led to the underenforcement of rape laws and a dearth of rape convictions. Because the stakes were so high in rape cases, the evidentiary burdens were also high, making it difficult to mount successful prosecutions. Because the penalties were so harsh, jurors went to great lengths to avoid convicting defendants, focusing instead on the complainant’s conduct and actions at the time of the crime, or convicting the defendant for a lesser offense, even in the face of clear evidence of guilt. Rooted in racial and gender stereotypes, rape law operated to protect women. But, ironically, the severe penalties that these stereotypes prompted made it difficult for many rape victims to avail themselves of the law’s protection and to obtain the justice they deserved.”

  • marshall

the death penalty should only be reserved for child molesters in this realm of crime.

  • http://skadhiblog.wordpress.com/ skadhithjassisdottir

As long as this is only for repeat offenders committing serious sex crimes, I don’t see the outcry. (I’m assuming that ‘aggravated’ implies some kind of violence or the threat of violence.)

  • Hoarfraust

Here’s just 1 reason why the death penalty is wrong: In the investigation of a serious crime, the police are pressured by the District Attorney to catch “A bad guy”. The DA himself is pressured by the people and Governor of a particular State. The Governor is always under pressure to respond by his constituents. Under all this pressure it is possible at any point for someone to nab “A bad guy” to relieve this pressure. The easiest “bad guys” to select are typically minorities. How often do we hear of police planting evidence etc in order to convict suspects? How often is evidence not brought forward so that jurors may make educated decisions? Often enough to suspect that many death row convicts were innocent of the crimes they were found guilty of committing.

  • Hamsa Rosenberg

    Agreed!
