Take Back Your Power!

Homeowners, experts, doctors, local governments, environmentalists and health organizations around the world are saying NO to “smart” meters, which are quietly being installed on every home and business worldwide – without disclosure of the risks and the violations of rights.

“The smart grid is increasingly understood as an over engineered, ill-advised, financial boondoggle at taxpayer expense, capable of endangering the security of the entire national grid, violating constitutional privacy protections and endangering public health. In addition, the smart grid/metering has not been found to save energy when all the new variables in the system are factored in. Plus, time-of-use pricing is largely punitive to those who can least afford it. Time-of-use pricing is fundamentally a Wall Street model designed to maintain shareholder profits as we transition to more energy efficient models that will reduce demand.”

Take Back Your Power

Utility companies are replacing electricity, gas and water meters worldwide with new generation “smart” meters at an unprecedented rate. Take Back Your Power investigates the benefits and risks of this ubiquitous “smart” grid program, with insight from insiders, expert researchers, politicians, doctors, and concerned communities. Transparency advocate Josh del Sol takes us on a journey of revelation and discovery, as he questions corporations’ right to tap our private information and erode our rights in the name of “green”. What you discover will surprise you, unsettle you, and inspire you to challenge the status quo.

that trailer didn’t provide much, except a sense of paranoia. Maybe there’s a better trailer that more adequately describes what’s at risk?

Ahh the good ol’days, when paranoia was enough.

    • > And while we understand the desire to protect your privacy at every
turn, especially against a powerful corporate entity like Pacific Gas
and Electric, there is very little information that utility companies
can glean about you or share, simply by using a smart meter. The meters
report broad usage trends, help identify peak hours of usage and, when
paired with appliances that can communicate with smart meters, identify
potential energy hogs in your home. The live reporting of electricity
usage will not betray to the utility companies or the government that
you spend the hours of 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. watching furry porn followed by
marathon sessions of the ‘700 Club.’
