NYPD Hits The Streets Telling People They Need To Download iOS 7

In what smacks of surreal law-enforcement-corporate synergy, a number of media outlets and many on Twitter have reported being stopped on the streets of New York by cops urging them to update their Apple smartphones’ operating systems. Via Digital Trends:

Cops in the city have been distributing fliers outside subway stations and Apple stores urging owners of the iPhone and iPad to upgrade to the recently released iOS 7 operating system, which comes with a new security feature called Activation Lock designed to make life a little more difficult for thieves.

The release of iOS 7 coincides with the launch of two new phones from Apple – the 5S and 5C.

One of the fliers begins “Attention Apple Users!!!!!” – yes, the message was deemed serious enough to warrant five exclamation marks – “As of Wednesday the new iOS 7 feature brings added security to your Apple devices.”

So Apple gave the NYPD a sweet new backdoor into their latest software update I take it?

Probably, plus the new iphone has that finger print scanner that I’m sure the authorities have access to.

There is this great article – can’t remember where i read it. Maybe Alternet that explains in great detail how the NYPD employed this ex-CIA analyst to run their Intelligence gathering network.

Basically after the back of the 1970s where it was discovered the NYPD were running files on hundreds of thousands of people (and survillance and interecpts) involved in peaceful protest they were expressly forbidded to hold files on citizens.

Anyway this CIA guy comes along just after 9/11 with a mandate/carte blanch to prevent another attack. He starts this massive Intelligence gathering system. He has cops going under cover into mosques and arab shops. Making notes, taking names, listening to conversations.

The whole point was to find out the next terrorist when he came in a rented some dingy apartment from a the Somalia Sunni shop keeper downstairs.

They also started to run a system similar to the NSA. Databases of publicly available data.

Anyway one wonders if they could use this Apple system. Get a copy of the finger prints and then run it through their fingerprint system.

Then they could match criminals to their iPhones and identify not only what they’re saying and communicating but also track their movements.

Shit, its almost too easy for the authorities to turn into this evil big brother monster isn’t it.

  2. Pretty sure the NYPD is just doing this because they’re tired of dealing with so many stolen phones. I know they were complaining to apple, and I guess it worked.

you sure? i am ‘sure’ in the same way that the entire security apparatus in the US does not want us to freely give them access to our info, nor has any kind of interest in obtaining our info. yes, that kind of ‘sure.’

Man in Black: You’re trying to trick me into giving away something.
    It won’t work.
Man in Black: Then make your choice.

The cops are promoting this? Automatic Cooties. No thank you, Apple, Inc. Keep your phones.

  10. Pretty soon you’ll start start to see a bunch of arrests made from fingerprint matches collected from iphones. One can only imagine what kind of surveillance capabilities are built into the new platform and software.

sounds like Apple perfected the video/camera/wifi killer and the NYPD is trying to take advantage of it. http://guardianlv.com/2013/08/apple-to-block-phone-features-at-sensitive-events/

Have you noticed certain companies extolling you to sign up for Obamacare? I have and it’s scary. The USA is like Nazi Germany just in MUCH slower motion as far as rolling out the dictates. But it’s all one, communism, socialism, fascism, it’s all about control by a cabal of ruling elite, who btw serve satan. Most of the events that are reported by their press are manipulated and staged in at least some way. These gun rampages are either actively planned and helped or allowed to go on with prior notice. Ever hear about ELF/VLF waves? Prozac, basically pure fluoride, is a concentrator of these very low harmonic waves and allow communication directly to ones brain via triangulation signals. Same with most brain-effecting drugs by the PharmaCartel. Be careful.
