British Man Dies Mysteriously After Opening “Pandora’s Box”

boxA case of death by mythology? Via the News & Star:

Mystery surrounds the death of a 37-year-old man who collapsed after opening ‘Pandora’s box’. Jason Airey was found slumped unconscious by his parents in the bedroom of their Carlisle home in May this year. A box bearing the words ‘Pandora’s box’ was beside him.

An inquest into his death heard how no drugs were found in his system and the box – which bore the inscription in red letters – contained unused synthetic cannabis.

Coroner Robert Chapman said a post mortem showed Jason’s heart had stopped beating, causing his organs to fail – but they would probably never know why. “We don’t really know what caused his heart to stop.”

  1. Maybe the shock of seeing a box full of “synthetic cannabis” instead of the real cannabis he paid for is what gave him a heart attack!?

  2. “Synthetic cannabis” usually refers to some kind of synthetic hallucinogen (aka “designer drugs”). These, often very powerful, “designer drugs” will not necessarily show up in a drug screen test (in fact, one reason for their existence is precisely to evade such detection).

This is partially correct. But synthetic cannabis refers to a designer drug that offers a high similar to weed. Often it is referred to as “spice”, “K2” and sometimes sold as “potpourri”. This shit is about 100000x worse for you than natural weed.

Stay away from Pandora’s box! She has the clap!

  4. Perhaps some form of toxic fumes had built up inside the box from the synthetic pot. Upon opening the box he probably go a snootful of the fumes and it caused his heart to stop? Some chemist should run some tests and see what they come up with.

I smoked the legal high and think I had a heart attack…. I was with a group of “friends” at the time and after I smoked it, the initial feeling was good…until I burst out laughing at everyone….it’s as though I saw a different life that I couldn’t see before.

After this, my heart began pounding like it was going to pop out of my chest… I then tried to relax my breathing, my heart hurt and I blacked out.

When I came around afterwards, everyone looked unbelievably shocked.

I am glad I woke up from the blackout…. my respiratory system rebooted from a blue screen, luckily it was just the once. I will likely have errors in the future.

Don’t smoke anything…….Unless you want to die. Then go ahead.
