Inside Reality With The Flat Earth Society

flat_earthIs the notion that our planet’s roundness a massive conspiracy perpetrated across centuries? The fascinating Flat Earth Society says yes, and attempts to address all of your doubts in their comprehensive FAQ guide:

The evidence for a flat earth is derived from many different facets of science and philosophy. The simplest is by relying on ones own senses to discern the true nature of the world around us. The world looks flat, the bottoms of clouds are flat, the movement of the sun; these are all examples of your senses telling you that we do not live on a spherical heliocentric world

Perhaps the best example of flat earth proof is the Bedford Level Experiment. In short, this was an experiment preformed many times on a six-mile stretch of water that proved the surface of the water to be flat. It did not conform to the curvature of the earth that round earth proponents teach. Many other experiments demonstrating the lack of curvature in the earth may be found in Earth Not a Globe, by Samuel Rowbotham.

Flat earth theory is neither officially nor unofficially associated with any religion. Believing in a flat earth isn’t contingent upon believing in a deity or being a part of any religion. There is however a religious movement founded by one of our theorists and administrators John Davis known as neozeteticism.

People have been into space. How have they not discovered that the earth is flat? The most commonly accepted explanation of this is that the space agencies of the world are involved in a conspiracy faking space travel and exploration. This likely began during the Cold War’s ‘Space Race’, in which the U.S.S.R and USA were obsessed with beating each other into space to the point that each faked their accomplishments in an attempt to keep pace with the other’s supposed achievements.

There are many pictures on the internet and in other media depicting the earth as being round. In general, we at the Flat Earth Society do not lend much credibility to photographic evidence. It is too easily manipulated and altered. Many of the videos posted here to “prove a round earth” by showing curvature will show no curvature or even convex curvature at parts.

Day and night cycles are easily explained on a flat earth. The sun moves in circles around the North Pole. When it is over your head, it’s day. When it’s not, it’s night. The sun acts like a spotlight and shines downward as it moves.

    HO-LY SHIT. C’mon! It’s gotta be Poe’s law.

Poe’s law is a myth worse than the laaame ‘NP-Hard’

Poe’s law applies to Poe’s law, and we can test out any stream of consciousness or even every stream of consciousness as concerns “where to put the (scare)quotes”

      in other words

i see what you did there, A.P.

I like the bit about gravity not existing … that’s a big call. I’m willing to give these folk the fruitloop of the decade award. Do I hear a second?

i’ll just kick back and wait for Them to mention genus-equivalence of topologies of spheres and planes. i’ll listen in if they explain quantum loop gravity or anything and get back to you. i gotta say, i hope they mention Horus the Elder, Ra, and draw parallels between genus problem solutions and the Ancient Egyptian religion as connected to a much larger emergence of intelligent phenomenon.

nobody eats the whole cow, eh?

oh, i tend to think of the ‘source’ of gravity as ‘not existing’, as being ‘nothing’, e.g. void, devoid of ‘space itself’. the sun rotates above a plane, though, well that just defies geometry in as much as they’re non-genus terrible explanation has let it remain thus far. i’ll certainly not solve their problems at this time.

I am continuously amazed that people can articulately use complex symbolic systems to communicate abstract ideas (no mean feat), and then fill them with insane gibberish.
