Elitist Cadillac Commercial… Spoofed!

The First Ever 2014 Cadillac ELR: Parody

“Why do we work so hard?  For what?  For this?  Stuff?  Other countries, they work, they stroll home, they stop by the cafe.  They take August off.  Off.  Why aren’t you like that?  Why aren’t we like that?  Because we’re crazy driven, hard working believers, that’s why.”

Umm… Okay.

When we saw the new TV ad for the 2014 Cadillac ELR, we just couldn’t help ourselves. So we made this… A spoof and a goof with some truth! Enjoy.

If you can stomach it, here’s the real commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGJSI48gkFc

I like how they pretend that we work hard because we want to and we’re driven and not because if we don’t we’ll end up on the street. Your god invented work as a punishment. You’re not supposed to enjoy it. Especially when your boss is payed 300 times more than you for doing a fraction of the actual work.

It would seem that our species has had too much time on its hands. We have spent most of our time creating contrivances, and stupid constructs. Yet this is not the world as it is, it is the world as we believe it to be, and what we put effort in. The “boss” is only the boss because we have accepted that such structures must exist.

What we need is a paradigm shift, and the video above is the prelude to such a shift.

Well, that would be difficult, I’m my own boss.

Oh, man. That’s a great feeling. I pulled an “Office Space” one day at my old day job and just said something along the lines of “Yeah, I really don’t have to be here anymore.” mid bitch-out session from my alcoholic, nutjob boss. Handed over my ID badge and office key and went home. Made a few calls to find some more work and then spent the rest of the afternoon playing with my dog. Haven’t had a day of regret, although I have to work much harder now (and for longer hours) for myself than I did there. I heard that the crew of poor, miserable souls that I used to work with still quietly follow every single little thing that I do online from their cubicles. I guess they’re living vicariously. (Hey guys!)
