Four members of a Florida family were hospitalized after eating steaks loaded with LSD. The steaks were purchased at a local Walmart, but police are saying that it was an isolated incident. I for one would have liked to have met that cow…

Via The Smoking Gun:

When the couple arrived at the hospital, Rosado, 31, “also became ill and was rushed across the street to St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital where they induced labor,” according to a police statement. Shortly thereafter, Rosado’s two young daughters “started experiencing hallucinations and felt ill,” cops added.

Morales and the girls “received tracheal intubation and were hospitalized” until their release Wednesday, while “The mother and her healthy baby boy were released Thursday, March 6th,” police reported.

The family members suffered hallucinations, dizziness, rapid heart rates, and difficulty breathing, according to Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor, who said that there was “no indication” of any involvement on the part of Morales or Rosado in the meat tampering. Castor added that there was, “No criminal history with this family.”

After seizing “food items that the family consumed prior to falling ill,” investigators determined that they “consumed bottom round steak contaminated with LSD.” Walmart has turned over to police “all meat of that type that was on their shelves at that time” so that it can be tested.

Waiting for the real cause to be printed as the last paragraph on page F-39, a month from now long after the hysterical headline has sold it’s last paper.

I don’t get it: what about investigating the people working in the meat department during that time the meat was on the shelves??

interesting things ive pieced together with the help of other commenters on the web. lsd, is also an abbreviation for listeria, and if listeria effected the right parts of your brain, it would cause hallucinations. i found a case on a site that reported auditory musical hallucinations as a result of listeria abcesses. id link that but my comment wont go through (unless thats been fixed, not sure), also, as many people have said already im sure, lsd is inert after being exposed to high amounts of heat (also light). what probably happenned, is that some cop read the medical report, which used the acronym lsd530 to describe a listeria infection, the cop saw that a symtpom of the food poisoning was hallucinations, and they jumped the gun and thought it was acid. then, obviously, the news papers picked up on it and did zero investigative reporting.

It’s not an abbreviation for listeria but for the statistical analysis of it. Least significant difference.

huh, i read that from a commenter on a different site and saw it being used in reference to listeria on some paper that came up with a yahoo search. not sure ifyou know, but would this be used on a medical report?as in, if it was listeria, would it be listed as lsd530 on the report?

If by LSD they mean Lysergic Acid, two questions:
    1. How does the LSD survive being grilled, or was it applied after cooking?
    2. How did anyone detect LSD on the steaks? The doses are in MICROgrams.

Think this has anything to do with the meat processing plant in N. CA that was closed by regulators, with no reason given?

  10. It’s about time Jimi found his way back through a womb! That kid is going to shred and probably also save the world.
