You Don’t Even Know You’re Being Manipulated

    yes, I do
which is why I only watched enough

We are not capitalist nor do we have DEMOCRACY. For over a hundred years the US has primarily been FASCIST run by corporations. This country was supposed to be a Constitutional Republic operating by the ‘Rule of Law’. Democracy is a LYNCH MOB.

you look tired bro…maybe you should re-think this paradigm. Is it serving you?

I mean isn’t this all a given? Consumerism, status quo, sheep etc. My question is what to do next? Will everyone “wake up?”

Not to be a random negative commenter, but these are my thoughts.

also Mark Wallberg is a brilliant actor. Have you seen his pecks? I mean he is almost as talented at acting as Vin Deisel. Marky Mark is to acting what Katy Perry is to music. (ouch that literally hurt, saying Katy Perry and music in the same sentence.)

Sorry Mr. Camp, but this one is wrong on a couple of counts. First, I’ve been manipulated all my life, so I’m quite familiar with the sensation. What I’m not sure of is what it’s like to NOT be manipulated. Assuming, of course, that “freedom” and “individuality” are anything more than abstractions.

Second, people don’t keep in line because ads tell them to, they keep in line because their parents and teachers and religious leaders have LITERALLY BEAT conformity into them. Deep down they know that being true to their inner selves can get them killed, from being shot by the police to having all means of shelter and sustenance withheld by the owners of the means of production and forced to starved to death in the streets. On the other hand, of course, if they’re “lucky” they might just get raped in prison.

It really hasn’t changed. The process of assimilation in the US has been a process of pushing everyone through a puritan filter since its inception. Ads are just a recent tool added to countless tools, from guns and prisons to bullshit about responsibilities as citizens to make people feel like they have a stake in the system.

      • Andrew

        Ads are the carrot.

Along with things like vacations and weekends if you’ve worked your way up to the class that deserves such things – a little time off, but not quite enough to pursue your own ends. Enough to engage in socially acceptable outlets like drinking beer while watching football on the teevee.

Bored now – can only watch 30 seconds of it before my non sheep ears fill with wax to protect me from your negative moaning.

I’ve done something about it – I’m not smug but if you are reading this page on disinfo then – “as a demographic” you are aware how different you are.

Get a Job, Lee – maybe consider Christianity, Wear Slacks, Train in 6Sigma. Going undercover may not loosen you up but it’ll mean you can spout your “right off” message at people who aren’t aware of it. But wear a buttplug whilst you are there experiencing the hive or you may get too comfortable!
