Mass Incarceration in the US

Check out this short animation about the problems with American prison policy.

It wasn’t easy to pick this topic, but I believe that America’s 40-year policy of mass incarceration is deeply unethical, not very effective, and promotes the security of the few at the expense of the many.

It’s hard for me, as a person who was born into privilege, to imagine the challenges convicted criminals face, often for crimes that are utterly non-violent.

If you’re feeling like you want to do something about this, I’m mostly just making this video as an informational resource and to encourage people to think of felons not as bad, scary people but just as people.

The people at The Prison Policy Initiative were very helpful in the creation of this video and if you want to learn more about their work and how to get involved go to

If we had a media that actually did it’s job, this issue of the injustice of mass incarceration, along with a host of other major problems, would be front and center in the news cycle. But since the media’s job is to maintain the status quo through propaganda promoting blind nationalism and rampant consumerism, as far as the mainstream is concerned, it is a non-issue.
From working in the courts, I this shit every single day.
I’ve posted this before, on here and other places, but it’s worth posting again.

Angela Davis has also done some excellent around this issue.

In the Netherlands, recently, prisons were closed for lack of prisoners. Meanwhile in the US, the private prison industry continues to grow.

Like the juxtaposition with the ever-vilified North Korea.

Good luck to Kim Jong and co.

This is beyond infuriating, especially having just spent the weekend in jail for skateboarding which escalated to resisting and false info. The base level of consciousness and self hatred from the demonic gollum cog officers in there was almost unbelievable.
I can only imagine the levels of the absurdity are multiplied in a prison environment.
