Fired off the cuff in one stroke, and with no edits
Untimely advice always is hated when it’s born, yet seen in a strange gaze of awe after the dust settles on it’s corpse.
I had dealt with a non-believer before I came home, doing a reading for her on the hood of her car. As I read the meaning of each card her jaw dropped lower and lower.
“That’s SO weird,” she shuddered, “we were just talking about this the other day!”
“Yeah,” I shrugged, “I’m sure you two did. The cards don’t lie.”
But do my words?
How much dust has settled on my last article versus the corpses made in the last three days?
Sterling was shot and killed early Tuesday morning…Cellphone video showing Sterling on the ground, underneath two officers, when he was killed, began circulating online early Tuesday evening. By the end of the night, the outrage was rippling nationwide.
Yet another black man has been shot by police for doing nothing wrong. Details are still unknown, but video of the incident was posted online by his girlfriend who witnessed the horrifying events as they unfolded.
Lavish Reynolds posted video of the terrifying experience live on Facebook. She explains that she, her boyfriend, and her four-year-old child were driving in their car when they were pulled over for a busted tail light in Falcon Heights, Minnesota. When the officer approached the car and asked her boyfriend for identification, he stated upfront that he was licensed to carry a firearm and did have a gun on him. He also told the officer that his ID was in his wallet, which was in his pocket.
When Reynolds’ boyfriend moved his hands as instructed by the officer, the officer opened fire, shooting the innocent man approximately four times.
Dallas Police Chief David Brown has confirmed at least 10 police officers were shot and at least three were killed in an attack by two snipers in downtown Dallas at a protest of officer-involved shootings across the country.
“Tonight it appears that two snipers shot ten police officers from elevated positions during the protest/rally,” Brown wrote in a statement. “Three officers are deceased, two are in surgery and three are in critical condition.”
And they all thought the Age of the Hyena was some poetic metaphor.
Make no mistake folks: whether you can stomach it or not the reign of non-violence is over. You can only piss down a people’s throat for so long before they start to react. Shots ringing out on glitzy skylines will become all the more common as time goes on. The boot no longer fits the throat.
Prepare for the “official story,” anything to deny this came from righteous anger.
We are in uncharted territory. When the DC sniper ran loose nobody felt for him; surely nobody understood his position. McVeigh was fringe, and of course a racist. America’s domestic terrorists have always been madman, insane birds whose feathers clearly mark them from the flock. We look at them as a degeneration of our own national identity.
This however smells different. This is a clear case of revenge.
At an anti-police brutality protest somebody took up arms and made words into lead. They did not shoot civilians, did not endanger the public. What they wanted to shoot was cops. For a reason.
My words fail me, my mind is grasping for metaphors yet all seem to come up short. I keep trying to make this witty and light but it isn’t. This is a historic moment.
Something happened tonight, and it will be debated I believe for quite some time. The blowback is inevitable. The police will come down hard, and honestly I don’t know why the shooters didn’t off themselves. They are doomed, in the truest tragic sense of the word. Do they intend a spectacle? This is the land of Black Site prisons; as far as we know they may be shipped off to Hungary never to be heard from again.
People are going to die soon. Alot of them. The cops are angry, bewildered, stuck like a wild pig. My guess is four shootings in the next month. Of course each killing will only ratchet up the anger.
The police will only incite more rage.
Up to now that anger has been meek and mild.
Now it has force and teeth. That anger kills.
For the first time in a long time American police will wake up as the sun rises and realize they are now in the Army: they are occupiers holding foreign territory away from a hostile populace. Gone is the Andy Griffith show. Welcome to the Green Zone.
If you have to ask why such a reality exists you are DEFINITELY in the Green Zone. Most of us live in Mosul, the more fortunate Rojava. You are intellectual interlopers, strangers in a strange land.
“There are decades where nothing happens and there are weeks where decades happen,” so said Lenin in the throws of revolution. Are we there? I’m afraid to pick up my cards and ask, afraid to either see a yes or no.
This is not terrorism. This is the first shots of a new and unspeakable conflict.
I am frozen yet on fire, calm yet jumping out of my seat. I am beside myself and within it, I cannot breathe yet all I desire is air. I’m hiding in sentences because what is being said by action and by the words of many simply cannot be said.
A new series of towers have fallen, the dust still swirling in the air. What cancers will our lungs produce?
The world will never be the same.
