is Now State Run Propaganda (and Everyone’s Soul Just Died a Little).

It’s weird being in a position where you acknowledge the importance of free speech but absolutely concede there NEEDS to be limits set on paid propaganda. Oh, and hey, as I pointed out in this article last year, there used to in fact be legal limits set on that sort of thing that we gutted purely because of greed. So let’s start off the week with this wretch inducing development.

“The Trump White House just disclosed that it granted ethics waivers to 17 appointees, including senior White House staffers.
The document carves out an exemption from ethics rules to those on the receiving end, including chief of staff Reince Priebus, counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway, and chief strategist Steve Bannon.

As the Washington Post reports, the waiver gives Bannon “permission to communicate with Breitbart News, the conservative website he used to run.”

The continued connection between Breitbart and the Trump White House is no surprise, and the murky ties between the right-wing site and Trump donor Rebekah Mercer recently led the U.S. Senate Daily Press Gallery to deny Breitbart’s bid to receive a permanent pass to cover Congress.

What the waiver does is grant Bannon to shape the coverage and tone of a pro-Trump propaganda outlet with a sordid history of white supremacist content, while working in his taxpayer-financed White House position.”

Since the election, I’ve had reich wingers talk shit to me on pretty much every post I’ve done on social media. So I have more experience than most at this point chatting with these types and trying to understand where they’re coming from (fun facts, my own mom is now a nutty conservative conspiracy theorist. My mom is also one of the most gullible human beings on the planet). You know what I’ve learned from this? They got fucking conned. Sorry, every time I’ve mentioned actual policy in these conversations, the subject is immediately changed. It’s like they know deep down the policies they’re supporting don’t make any fucking sense. Like yeah, you’re going to fight Wall Street…by uhhh…massively deregulating Wall Street? Sure.

It’s a classic grift. You listened to the sales pitch, but didn’t read the fine print. The most ridiculous thing is that a lot of these neo-reich winger Occultnicks think they’re being rebellious by supporting this shit. Ummm, nope! Supporting state sponsored religious fundamentalism and increased drug war/military spending ain’t fucking rebellious, not now, not ever. You’re not fighting the man, you got played by the fucking man. Seriously, were you even aware that Breitbart was largely founded by the Koch Brothers and other super religious creepshow billionaires through Super PAC back channels? Might not be a bad time to watch Disinfo contributor Abby Martin’s piece on the woman beating fuck boi that is Steve Bannon. Guy literally made a propaganda film about how great Sarah Palin is. Seriously, he’s that dumb.

Oh, but the Democrats!!!!!!!! If anyone else tries to explain how awful the Democrats are to a guy who voted for Ralph Nader and caucused for Bernie Sanders, I’m going to slap them. And for those who are all, why is this being posted on Disinfo? Errrr, we helped distribute Robert Greewald’s films including The Koch Brothers Exposed back in the day. So like, just shut the fuck up.
