I’ve often joked that religion and politics are the 2 topics that people for some reason have strong opinions on without technically knowing anything about. But I must concede, UFO’s and supposedly “alien” phenomenon in general fall into that same category. This episode is a great example of that as Jake is convinced there’s nothing to things like crop circles and UFO reports but when pressed he doesn’t actually know anything about either one of these topics. So a lot of this show amounts to a guy who’s never read a single book about either one of these things arguing with a guy who’s read like 50. Classic propaganda conditioning tactics at work, attack the idea itself, not the facts.
To be fair, the only reason I know anything about UFO’s and alien contact experiences has to do with me buying Whitley Strieber’s Communion in a thrift store as a joke a few weeks after I first took mushrooms as a kid, then realizing that a lot of what Whitley was saying was directly in tune with the multi-dimensional reality I’d just experienced. If it wasn’t for that, I’d probably still be mocking this stuff too and honestly, if you look into UFO culture, there’s a lot to mock.
