You know that viral post I shared last week and attributed to Henry Rollins? As it turns out, that wasn’t actually written by Henry Rollins, but rather by a dude named Will Steinberg who essentially passed it off as being written by Rollins. So, apologies to mislead anyone there as I got duped myself. Despite that, I agree with pretty much everything Will said and I said in the post. Apparently it was supposed to be like written as something Henry Rollins would say or some fan fiction bullshit. To Will Steinberg: you’re a douchebag. To Henry Rollins: you should have said that. Anyway, just a retraction. It’s not like I don’t pretend to get duped by shit. We all do. I for years thought Aleister Crowley was some sort of master magickian because of Robert Anton Wilson’s astounding lack of fact checking on that front. Carlos Castaneda? Totally believed that dude was a legit sociologist for quite a while as well. I’ve retracted these positions fairly heavily, which is something Disinfo never actually did until I took over. Seriously, one of the most popular posts on this site for years was A-100% total bullshit. You can read the eventual retraction on that here.
As for the quote in the above image. He totally said that, but as lyrics in a song. I’d rate that as “misleading” on a Snopes scale as far as quotes are concerned.
