Disinfonauts! I had a fun conversation with Dr. Rita Kay on her show yesterday. We covered a lot of ground and addressed why humanity is so screwed up and what we can do to fix that. Much of the discussion revolves around my book, THE QUEST FOR GNOSIS.

Many moons ago, I discovered a wonderful social network known as myspace.com. It was an exciting way to meet new people and find those who had likeminded interests. It was also a great way to cruise for members of the opposite sex and flirt. As time progressed, people seemed to become annoyed with the juvenile aspects of Myspace culture and the pervasive tendency to blast through and ‘friend collect’, while worshipping internet celebs like ‘Forbidden’ and ‘Tila Tequila’. When Facebook launched, it was an exclusive network for college students. But soon it became the unstoppable juggernaut that we know today. What seemed to be the nail in Myspace’s coffin was the involvement of big corporate interest which essentially stripped Myspace of all its coolness. Forbidden and Tila became old news and we breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Now Facebook has become a bit like Myspace. It is riddled with corporate grossness and metrics that monitor and track us NSA style.… Read the rest
There’s a shadowy group lurking in the squeaky clean corridors of the scientific information conglomerate known as TED. Here in the cockles of this monolithic shaft of Copernican cocksuredness hides a gloaming collection of secret scientists who decide the fate of the information you’re allowed to hear. They have no name, so we shall call them the Anonymous Society of Scientist (A.S.S. for short). We may have never known of A.S.S.’s existence if not for the hell raised over the removal of two popular TEDx Whitechapel speeches by Scientist, Dr. Rupert Sheldrake and best-selling author, Graham Hancock.
Both Dr. Sheldrake and Graham Hancock’s talks revolved around the idea that consciousness is not necessarily limited to the physical human body, but that it may extend far beyond in ways not yet fully understood. In light of the present paradigm of scientific thought which supposes we are actually “lumbering robots” as Richard Dawkins famously stated, the contrarian claims of Sheldrake and Hancock are not considered suitable for public consumption – so think the veiled harbingers of A.S.S.… Read the rest
I am pleased as punch to see that my favorite band, He Is Legend, are due to release their 4th full length album “Heavy Fruit” on August 19th. Their style of rock weighs heavy with whiskey, cigarettes, and magick overtones. Over the course of their career, their sound has progressed with a kind of southern fried metal that satisfies on a visceral level while conveying well articulated lyrics. Many themes in the new record revolve around the witchery of them womenfolk in all of their good and malevolent ways. Schulyar Croom’s voice is like gilded razor wire as he swaggers through track after track. I hope you enjoy their new work as much as I do and pick up a copy of their album, come August 19th.

Contributor to The Quest For Gnosis and all around cool guy, Anthony Peake presents the extraordinary science of what happens when we die.
Can there ever be a scientifically satisfactory explanation as to what happens to human consciousness at the point of death? Anthony Peake, acclaimed author on the matter of consciousness, believes there is. Pulling together the latest evidence from the fields of quantum physics, neurology, consciousness studies and psychology, Peake presents a compelling, original theory to explain what exactly happens when we die.
Gabriel D. Roberts writes to share an interview he conducted with Dr. Rick Strassman, author of DMT: The Spirit Molecule, for VICE:
Dr. Rick Strassman, author of DMT: The Spirit Molecule, is responsible for groundbreaking research on dimethyltryptamine that reopened the legal doors for serious psychedelic study after decades of stagnation. Between 1990 and 1995 Dr. Strassman helped 60 patients enter the void and then documented their experiences at the University of New Mexico’s School of Medicine. Aside from his scientific observations, he has also suggested that DMT might have ties to stories of alien abduction, and that the release of DMT from the pineal gland into a fetus roughly seven weeks after conception “marks the entrance of the spirit.”
My third book, The Quest for Gnosis, was released last month and features interviews with many of the leading minds in psychedelic study, including Dr.… Read the rest
The following is from the new book, THE QUEST FOR GNOSIS, available now.
Mr. Bolelli is the author of the book, Create Your Own Religion: A How To Book Without Instructions. His perspective on life, death and everything in between has always intrigued and inspired me and I just had to have a talk with him for The Quest For Gnosis.
GDR: So… you’re called the “Drunken Taoist.”
GDR: Why is that? What’s the story behind that?
DB: Um… Drunken Taoist I guess, you know how in kung fu movies you’ve got the old drunk guy who looks like crap and always manages to defeat these burly, strong, younger, better, faster attackers and nobody can quite figure out how. The Drunken Taoist is the power of weirdness: It’s an unorthodox approach, that no one can quite figure out why it works, but it does.
GDR: Right.… Read the rest
Julieta Triangular is a fantastic film maker from Santiago, Chile whose psychoactive films compel and inspire.
Reminiscent of artists like Alejandro Jodorowski and Stanley Kubrick, her style sparks the imagination with a tense juxtaposition of beauty and mania. Her latest work, Bakenti is a fictional-magical short film, an accord with the jungle resting in the Peruvian Amazon. Born from the readings of the Shipibo-Conibo community, the wisdom of indigenous communities, and the supernatural and sacred dimensions of the Earth. Also based on our own reverence and gratitude for the power of Nature, the songs which reside in the heart of each and every human being, which allow us to reconnect with the divine teachings of our ancestors and our guiding plants, such as Ayahuasca.
