In yesterday’s New York Times, William D. Cohan refines what was once a confusing and fringe theory about JP Morgan and HSBC’s involvement in silver market manipulation into a very plausible scenario, tying in the cloak and dagger elements of the story with the currently unfolding class action lawsuits in several states.

Once again, the platform is being put to good use to elucidate exactly what’s happening:

Each segment has information that I found useful, especially the fact that there is actually no physical silver left in circulation — nice touch. Part II is here and part III available here.

Part IV is here, and after the creators accidentally deleting the original voices, the bear in the overalls is now sounding strangely like John Lennon.

Another source of information and a more detailed breakdown on basic market manipulation and arbitrage is available here. The site that appears to be the sponsor/creators of the Xtranormal videos is less clear, but has information as well…

Banana USA In a recent opinion piece in the New York Times, Nicholas D. Kristof reels off some key statistics in confirming what most Americans have suspected for years —the United States has now become the largest banana republic of it’s kind, with the largest slice of income going to the smallest group of oligarchs.

The richest 1 percent of Americans now take home almost 24 percent of income, up from almost 9 percent in 1976.

As Timothy Noah of Slate noted in an excellent series on inequality, the United States now arguably has a more unequal distribution of wealth than traditional banana republics like Nicaragua, Venezuela and Guyana.

Not really breaking news, but he includes several helpful links to recent studies demonstrating the emotional toll of striving to achieve the hyper-riches of the Bushes next door, through higher divorce rates and forced moves to hunt down the more lucrative positions.

As more time passes, the research and conclusions postulated by philosopher and modern psychonaut Terence Mckenna (November 16, 1946 – April 3, 2000) are proving themselves to be fact rather than fiction. His eloquent observations on the mind-body connection and in turn the human relation to the environment are essential to anyone who feels the growing disconnect between the western way of life and the natural/ecological world.

Also poignant is the political aspect of his talk, drawing the parallels between the dissolving of the soviet system to the eventual deterioriation of the western system

This is a fantastic 1991 presentation where he outlines the basic tenets of the Archaic Revival and the psychedelic experience and it’s place in the western modern technological world.
