Acts of Resistance: What Are You Going To Do This June 14th?

OESRDavid DeGraw writes on AmpedStatus:

The big banks have sold us out.
Democrats and Republicans have sold us out.
No one is defending our interests.
Our future is going up in flames.

It’s time for us to stand up and defend ourselves.

Trillions of dollars in fraudulent activity by the big banks on Wall Street caused our current economic crisis. Paid off politicians from both parties, along with secret deals made by the Federal Reserve, gave trillions of taxpayer dollars and subsidies to the very people who caused our crisis. After taking our tax dollars, they had the audacity to give themselves all-time recording-breaking bonuses and consolidate wealth in unprecedented fashion within the economic top 0.01% of the population.

While a record number of Americans are currently living in poverty and on food stamps; while millions of American families have been foreclosed upon; while health care, food and gas costs are skyrocketing; while over 200 million Americans are living paycheck to paycheck struggling to make ends meet, the super-wealthy have never had it better.

Ai Weiwei

Kyle Chayka writes on Hyperallergic:

Reports have been flying from Twitter that approximately 14 hours ago just before a planned flight to Hong Kong, Chinese artist Ai Weiwei has been arrested and detained at the Beijing airport. 10 hours ago [Sunday morning Beijing time], police raided Ai’s studio on the outskirts of Beijing. Ai’s status is now unknown: his phone is off, and power has been cut to the studio. The Guardian has the first official report of the events. Here are the details of the arrest:

Ai was due to fly to Hong Kong for business this morning, but was detained at immigration on his way out of Beijing. An officer told an assistant who was travelling with him that the artist had “other business” and could not board the plane.

Between 15 and 20 uniformed and plain clothes police surrounded his studio in Caochangdi, in the north of the capital, and more were believed to be searching it.

Prepare For Revolution: The Empire State Rebellion | #OpESR

We The People“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never has, and it never will.” — Frederick Douglass

David DeGraw writes on Amped Status:

Contrary to rumors being spread around, I do not know what our friends at Anonymous have planned for Operation Empire State Rebellion (OpESR). However, I wholeheartedly agree with the goals they presented in their “Communication #1” video. They are very similar to reports I have been writing and the movement we have been calling for on our social network:

GL1TCHG0R3′s ‘Gearball’ Music Video

GL1TCHG0R3 (glitch-gore) was born out of an experiment to create a new sound somewhere in the twilight zone between hip-hop, improvisational jazz-rock fusion, noise, IDM and glitch.

Stumped at how to proceed with this task, they invoked Eris the goddess of chaos through song, art, insanity and an organ donation. The Mother of mechanized muses was indeed pleased — so pleased that she plucked out her right eye, and created the most terrifying weapon of mass destruction in the universe to take its place among us.

Thus Gearball, also known affectionately as Mister Twinkles, came to earth and became the band’s whimsical cyclopean mascot. Travel with Mister Twinkles and his friends through a wild acoustic romp into the depths of cosmic chaos. And if you listen closely, betwixt undead mayhem and alien tribal rhythms, you’ll hear the dancing laugher of Eris grinding away between the humming rotors of creation…

To All the Lonesome Lost Disinfo Chat Refugees…

(…you are missed.) Once upon a time Disinfo hosted the sweetest little red and black Java Chat box on the net. for real. it was thee place to meet dislike-minded people to chatter with. i met some of the coolest people there. and a few of them are still my friends. i found this little place about 6 years ago. i was there EVERYDAY. along with people like Claire, Anas, Happy Bubble Girl, Black, Santa, Lion, Rails and many many more. when they shut down our little sanctum we pleaded with them to bring it back. we never got any response. so we even went as far as trying a Petition:

yes, im the notorious Patrick Chauncey AKA Rev.Spook and on occasion in the chat box i was ‘gauze.’

so. one day Dr. Tedley and i decided to create a refuge for the refugees and we establshed it here:

we know it’s not as fancy as Disinfo’s Java Chat was but it’s what we could do.… Read the rest

The GL1TCHG0R3 / Soft Cell Incident

Once upon a time … we were asked to take a stab at doing a Soft Cell remix for their upcoming HEAT album. From the get go it was a dicey situation at best. The UK mail system “lost” the master tracks, and we had to get them resent at the last minute. We had about a week to come up with something in the hopes (yet another carrot on a stick) that it might generate some interest and play, and if accepted might make it onto Soft Cell’s HEAT remix album … along with 300 pounds … someday … maybe. We came up with what we felt was a good mix true to our mad sound, but respectful to the original artist’s work…

The Truth About Chartreuse

The Order of Grande Chartreuse was founded in 1084 by a German writer and academic, Bruno, who taught at the University of Rheims. Weary of the endless piles of marking, pointless administration and mind-numbingly boring staff meetings – or perhaps simply obeying a call from Goddess (Green Tara to be exact) – Bruno decided to become a monk. Together with six friends, he scoured France for a suitable isolated spot and happened on the Chartreuse Desert, an inhospitable snowbound place near Grenoble in the French Alps. The group built themselves seven simple wooden cells, a chapel and a dining hall and enjoyed a life of prayerful contemplation and light snacks, thus establishing the first Carthusian (Charterhouse) monastery. Today there are twenty-four of these communities around the world and their way of life has not changed for over nine hundred years…
