The Future of Booze May Be Here

The future of boozeMan, I have been saying this since I was a teenager and it’s become even more glaring as technology advances. So, you can make it so I can access the internet on my goddamn phone but you can’t make something that mimics the socially liberating effects of alcohol without making me hungover or fat? Well, apparently this potentiality I’ve been talking about since I was roughly 14 is now right around the corner. Particularly pertinent in my world, as I’ve had to abandon my hard drinking lifestyle in the last few years because it became obvious my body couldn’t handle it any more. I’ve been bored ever since. What’s also fascinating about this is that it’s being championed by the dude who got fired by the British government for pointing out that alcohol and cigarettes are more dangerous than most illegal drugs:

“I’ve done the prototype experiments myself,” he said. “I’ve been inebriated and then it’s been reversed by the antagonist.… Read the rest

If Voting Doesn’t Matter, Why Do Evil Billionaires Seem to Think it Does?

blueenergyheatherFor everyone who thinks voting doesn’t matter I’ve got two words for you: legal weed. Okay, shut the fuck up now. Thank you. My state is currently not arresting people for up to an ounce of marijuana and it will soon be sold in stores, which is the greatest victory of the people thusfar in the drug war. Guess how that happened? One, some determined folks got it on the ballot and two, we voted for it. For the record, it wasn’t even close. Why am I bringing this up? For the most part I try and avoid politics in my writing (outside of the drug war) because I tend to think it takes away from a spiritual message that should be applicable to anyone regardless of political affiliation (man are people divided on politics in this country). But I just voted the other day and once again, had to endure a bunch of commentary from idiots on the internets about how “it doesn’t matter who you vote for man”.… Read the rest

Why I Don’t Do Psychedelics Very Often Anymore

daemonicheatherblackrainbowI feel like I should start this off by saying that I’m never going to stop doing psychedelic drugs and to say that I don’t do them very often anymore would sort of ignore the fact that I get high almost every day. In my mind weed’s a bit more of hallucinogen than most people like to acknowledge, it just takes a bit more focus to be used in that capacity and people are lazy. Things like acid and mushrooms come right into your world impose their essence into the very fiber of your world. They’re the only reason I’m writing this weird shit for you today. I took mushrooms when I was 18 and saw a universe of transcendent shape shifting mutant space art that no one will ever be able to explain to me with conventional thought. One of the more mind blowing aspects of randomly experimenting with psilocybin as a teenager had to do with reading people like Carlos Casteneda shortly thereafter.… Read the rest

A Profit Margin is Daemonic by Its Very Nature

lazerbeamheatherIn the course of everyday conversation, if you were to make a remark about humans being controlled by nefarious inhuman forces, you’d typically get people calling you overly paranoid and probably accusing you of smoking way too much pot. On the other hand, you’d be entirely and quite demonstrably accurate. We have an expansionary agenda we’re all seemingly beholden to in one manner or another, and we execute this subconsciously programmed agenda through our desire to put up greater and greater numbers. Isn’t that what the stock market is all about when you get right down to it? Tracking our progress on breeding irresponsibly and churning out environmentally toxic bullshit? Hey, we made a lot of new soulless crap today. Numbers are skyrocketing. Where are we going with all that exactly? When wealth equality’s cartoonishly heinous and our government breaks, you’d think we’d start wondering now wouldn’t you? Go team nowhere!… Read the rest

Can Weed Help You Deal with Your B*llsh*t Day Job?

musicworship1Now, the following story isn’t something I’m proud of. Truth be told, reading about Graham Hancock’s Giving Up the Green Bitch ordeal was sort of eye opening for me, not in the “pot can lead to bad things sort of way”, but moreover in the, “wow, Graham used to smoke way more weed than I ever have” way. Kind of a warning in all honesty. If I didn’t have to work a day job like Graham, I could probably quite easily fall into the smoking-all-day-every-day trap that he found himself ensnared in. As a matter of fact, that’s how I roll on the weekends, but you know, on a daily basis I have to work boring ass jobs to support myself and smoking at work has always struck me as both a waste of weed and a high. Because of this, I typically don’t blaze up until like 5pm during the work week.… Read the rest

Remote Viewing the Future: An Interview with Chris Cheveyo of Rose Windows

2013_Rose-Windows_Sun-DogsOne of the most peculiar things about living in Seattle at the moment is the fact that there are not one, but two ridiculously over-the-top psych rock divas here. I mean, what are the freaking odds? Of course, I’ve probably written about Midday Veil to the point of complete overkill by now, but you know, they continue to do weird shit that amazes me, so until that stops, I’ll keep up with it.

What I haven’t mentioned is the oneiric excellence of their smoky contemporaries Rose Windows. The reason for that probably has to do with the fact that it took several years to congeal their debut album, The Sun Dogs, into existence. Although the band initially blew me away live due largely to the sheer concussive force of vocalist Rabia Qazi, it wasn’t until the disc dropped in June (on Sub Pop Records no less) that I truly processed the depth of songwriting and lyrical complexity going down in that camp.… Read the rest

Your Religion Might As Well Be Football

The 12th Man Never DiesAhhh Football season. The crisp feel of fall winds and the sound of drunkenness in the afternoon. There is absolutely nothing more distinctly and disturbingly American than football culture. So, you get a bunch of dudes who may or may not drink very often incredibly drunk in the middle of the afternoon. If their team wins, they get increasingly wasted and elated. If they lose they get dangerously sauced and pissed off. Yeah, that’s gonna end well for the kids.

Don’t fool yourself. Football (or any sport for that matter) wouldn’t exist in its insanely bloated capacity if weed and hallucinogens weren’t outlawed back in the day. People would probably be more into fucking and playing the electro delay sitar. Maybe there’d be porno sitar players. I don’t know. What I do know is that alcohol is legal and because of that, football culture is fucking PERFECT. You work a dumbshit job all day but hell, it’s all worth it because on the weekend you get to throw back drink after drink and yell at people who could kick the living crap out of you.… Read the rest

Remember Child, You Are A Universe Within Yourself

MiddayVeil_SubterraneanRitual2Another super freaky video by my favorite purveyors of psych rock goodness, Midday Veil. All the lyrics are basically a riff on the classic Occultist mantra: As Above, So Below: Remember child: you are a universe within yourself All the sun and moon and stars above all have their parallels Inside each microcosmic vessel of your human cells You are the alpha, the omega, heaven and hell  Make sure you watch the entire thing. The whole planets colliding motif is awesome, but when Emily's disembodied eyes and mouth enter the picture and impart this ancient message to the viewer, things get all kinds of trippy. Oh, and they're about to embark on a brief West Coast tour which starts tomorrow. If you haven't seen these cats live, check it.

Is Aftershock 2013 the Worst Music Festival Ever Booked?

aftershockdoucheimageWell let’s see, we’ve got Korn, Megadeth, Steel Panther, Papa Roach, Shinedown, BuckCherry, P.O.D., Avenged Sevenfold, HIM, Five Finger Death Punch, The new band featuring the idiot bro from Disturbed, and much much more…absolute crap. Basically every band I fucking hated from 10 years ago all in the same place. It’s like they’re trying to go for a shit sandwich world record. Sort of unfortunate that they couldn’t achieve their dream, which I’m sure would have included Linkin Park, Godsmack, Limp Bizkit, and Creed as headliners. Fortunately for us, they couldn’t secure those bloated abominations as doing so probably would have created a karmic douche-nado which could potentially tear a rift through all that doesn’t suck in loud music.

For those kids who don’t remember, back in the early 90’s, for a brief period there were angry bands marketed by huge corporations who actually possessed an inkling of critical thinking skills and artistry.… Read the rest

The Expansionary Occult Agenda That No One Talks About

Intronaut2At this point we should all know that the word Occult is derived from the word occluded and is often interpreted as the search for “knowledge of the hidden”. By that definition, I’ve often pointed out that the most obviously hidden aspect of our society is that we don’t talk about what we’re up to exactly pretty much ever. If you came up to a person on the street and asked them the meaning of life, I’d say the likelihood they’d reply: “to blindly churn out as many humans as possible through reckless fucking and build as much new weird stuff as quickly as we can” would be fairly slim. I guess the reason for that would have to do with the fact that it sounds utterly insane when you say it out loud, which is precisely why we don’t do it. And yet, it is the supreme goal nearly all of us spend a great deal of our time contributing to every single day.… Read the rest
