When DMT Equals Killing the Environment

The dark side of DMT production…These atrocities have been going on for a very long time. If you read this link, you can see that the same thing has been and is happening with Mimosa hostilis, along with other psychedelic containing species, since at least the 90’s…

If you truly value the environment and profound teachings these plants offer humanity then please help us spread awareness of this idiotically unsustainable harvesting by sharing this information with others.

Via The Nexian:

In late September of this year (2014), Australian acacia expert, Nen, was confronted with one example of the potential ecological costs of the skyrocketing interest in DMT. The following is his account of what he encountered:

What I saw yesterday has left me sickened and shocked.

I took the Nexian, Spice Sailor, to see a very special and pristine nature reserve in a national park where there were large mother seed trees of Acacia obtusifolia.

Festivals, Politics, and Change

Some enlightening words by David Nickles, of the DMT-Nexus’ magazine – The Nexian:

We can collectively dream of worlds that surpass our wildest individual imaginings and bring them into being year-after-year—and we do. Is it really less conceivable that we could take actions in our daily lives to challenge the systems and structures that seek to deny us access to that which we need to survive? By all means, change yourself and your festival culture, but don’t stop there. Unless we act to dismantle the destructive cultural constraints that hold us hostage, our change will never manifest beyond personal revelations and state-sanctioned temporary autonomous zones. We know we are capable of incredible actions; now is the time to focus on ways to break free of the culturally-prescribed containers of festival settings and to build new worlds that truly realize our fundamental needs as human beings.

Humberto Braga recently wrote an article entitled “How and Why ‘Conscious’ Festivals Need to Change,” where he argued forgoing one year of Burning Man in order to buy our way out of dominant culture by building a techno-utopic retreat.

Dennis McKenna – Plants Fueled Neural Evolution

Via The Nexian:

‘Plants have an incredibly symbiotic relationship with insects to complete their life cycle….There was a very specific symbiosis with us, and whatever other animals that ate these fruits. We did them a favor by disseminating the seeds. They did us a favor by providing us with this neurochemical rich environment that contributed to the complexification of the human neural structure.’ – DM

Here Dennis McKenna outlines some elements of consciousness researcher Tony Wright’s theory of symbiotic neural evolution (and degeneration), as outlined in his book Left in the Dark (recently republished as Return to the Brain of Eden).

Symbiosis and cooperation within nature is arguably a feature more prevalent than even competition…something Darwin himself seemed to understand. In recent times our perception of nature’s true interwoven depth has become distorted, retreating to the mere surfaces of things, whereas this symbiotic environment often operates within the invisible landscape of molecular communication.… Read the rest

Mind Blowing Art By A Man With Pineal Gland Cancer

The Nexian summarizes some of this mans incredible story:

During his time at art school, Shawn Thornton unknowingly developed cancer of the pineal gland. Curiously, as his condition progressed his art transformed into ever more complex and finely polished scenes that many find reminiscent to DMT experiences, often alluding to the mythology, symbolism, or biology surrounding the pineal gland. Here we take a quick look at his fascinating story and art.

Synchronicity & the Collective Dream

Carl Jung, the man who coined the term synchronicity and studied it extensively for decades, once said that “Synchronicity is no more baffling or mysterious than the discontinuities of physics.”

Sometimes it seems to me that the universe is like a giant organism or mind, and synchronicity is like a symptom of the cosmos tripping utter ballsack, having an orgasm, or a good belly laugh. Prodding itself along the path of greater self-awareness. There is a mode we can partially access that is more heavily tuned into the non-local level of things where everything is everywhere. Tapped in to a degree that we can barely imagine from our ordinary day-to-day state of consciousness. Often the leaks into consciousness are brushed off as mere coincidences.

I wonder what people would think if they could simultaneously see or be aware of all of our collective “coincidences” that have occurred in human life throughout our years, and then whether or not they’d still default to the explanation that it was mere coincidence… My guess, after documenting the phenomenon for years, is that the response would be pure astonishment, requiring heavy revision to the parameters of our reality-tunnels.… Read the rest

BOOM Festival

Boom is a shining example of the thriving psychedelic resurgence. The very notion of coming together in an autonomous space specifically designed to facilitate transformative experiences reflects a contemporary psychedelic ethos that is spreading worldwide and taking shape in exciting ways. A rich modern history—as well as deep ties to prehistoric practices—has brought this unprecedented resurgence to its thrilling present position, and the potential futures on the horizon are the stuff of dreams.

Humans have been surrounded by psychoactive plants and have explored altered states of consciousness since the dawn of history. The rediscovery and popularization of some of these plants, alongside modern synthesized compounds, played a significant role, both as cause and effect, in the social turmoil of the ‘60s and ‘70s, with governments, militaries, and countercultural psychonauts exploring the depth and breadth of psychedelic experiences.… Read the rest

SWAT Team Blew A Hole In My 2-year Old Son. Hooray Drug War!

militarizationThe War on [some people who use certain] Drugs never ceases to amaze. Via the Salon:

After our house burned down in Wisconsin a few months ago, my husband and I packed our four young kids and all our belongings into a gold minivan and drove to my sister-in-law’s place, just outside of Atlanta. On the back windshield, we pasted six stick figures: a dad, a mom, three young girls, and one baby boy.

That minivan was sitting in the front driveway of my sister-in-law’s place the night a SWAT team broke in, looking for a small amount of drugs they thought my husband’s nephew had. Some of my kids’ toys were in the front yard, but the officers claimed they had no way of knowing children might be present. Our whole family was sleeping in the same room, one bed for us, one for the girls, and a crib.

After the SWAT team broke down the door, they threw a flashbang grenade inside.
